+1 International students are an important part of higher education in this country and add to the diversity of all our kids' experiences. The decision the CBP made based upon their whim just means that Harvard can spend more tuition dollars getting this poor kid a lawyer and trying to get him back in the country, rather than on financial aid.

If you think your alma mater should be admitting fewer international students, write a letter and withhold your alumni donation. But this boy earned a spot, won a scholarship, was cleared for a US visa by the Embassy and through a rigorous process in his home country, and then was denied at the airport. That's ludicrous. Did a long time ago. It's a LAC now falling apart because alums stopped giving and endowment has shrunk to one of the worst in the U.S. for a small LAC.

If a student is exceptional enough to be admitted to Harvard, we should want them here. The chances of them staying here after graduation and contributing to a US industry are there.

He must have been darn impressive to make it through a process where 5% are admitted (imagine the rate for non-legacies...2-3%?).
