+1. And presumably turned down other offers for schooling only to return home to nothing. There’s a reason tourists aren’t coming to the US as much anymore. |
Clearly a need for an e-register. But would it be ignored by school administrators like e-verify is ignored by employers? |
American taxpayers are giving Harvard many millions of dollars every year. Why are we funding foreigners? |
This. I hope the Post or someone pursues the story further. Could be a possible huge disconnect between the work of the consular service and individual immigration officers. So much authority for officers at the airport operating in a span of hours to remove someone. Wonder if they actually checked the student's paperwork with the right part of the Stste Department or just made assumptions so they could deport him immediately rather than hold him while working with State. The report that they kept repeatedly asking him about his "religious practices" even as other students were released is...telling. |
WTF are you talking about? Who is "funding"? |
American taxpayers. Check your comprehension. Why is Harvard getting federal aid to host foreigners? |
You seem to have missed this part: Ajjawi wrote that he has also contacted AMIDEAST, the non-profit organization that awarded him a scholarship to study in the U.S., which is now providing him legal assistance. |
What do you mean? OUR GOVERNMENT issues student visas, not colleges. Several posts have commented on the consular officers and State Department. That's what they are talking about. The students have to apply, get interviewed at an embassy or consulate, and go through background checks. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/study/student-visa.html |
You mean ... like when Trump hires foreigners and get a tax break for it. |
Then Dartmouth College president Jim Yong Key was fired because the gave in to the demand of 'international students' for 'needs-blind' admissions even for foreigners. |
1. Zero federal grants? 2. How much was the scholarship? |
It's a zero sum gain. The # of students in the US studying abroad = the number of student visas. So you think US students should not study abroad? |
I am one of those immigrants you love to hate. I came over here on a scholarship because I was smart and worked hard. I was not eligible for any federal aid. Before you get too comfortable in this hate of foreigners because they are taking over everything (oh, hell, who am I kidding, you're there already) you might want to consider facts. |
Funny how you failed to answer either question. And BTW, you have my clue about my immigration status, you racist. |
How are taxpayer paying for this student? Check your bullshit. |
