You can’t go to work an hour late one day a year with a month notice?

I get that you don’t want to use your time that way, but you probably CAN.

Do you typically go to work after having a drink? I don't.

You can just drink coffee or OJ.

Why would I go to a drinking party at 9 am to not drink and then go to work late? I would just go to work to have the damn coffee! Then again I’m not celebrating being allowed to sit at my house and do nothing again all day since my kids are gone so clearly this just isn’t for people like me.

OMG. Some of us have critical thinking skills and no stick up our ass. We know you can have OJ with literally a splash of celebratory bubbly, fill up a coffee cup, and move on with our effing lives.

You know people have drink sometimes during work lunches, right? Toasted the end of summer with beer and pizza with our dean the other day. We left that event and went stragiht into a budget meeting. Somehow managed.

Oh well I’m a teacher so that is actually illegal for me to do and I would be fired. But YMMV.

It’s definitely a thing here. We just don’t post about it though.

When I first started reading this post I thought the moms you were talking about were gross. Then I kept reading for another sentence and realized that it's you, OP, that's gross. Stop being so judgmental and lighten up. While I would not plan to participate in a mimosa party on the first day of school, I wouldn't care if other moms did. You're just being mean. Leave other people alone, nothing they're doing is hurting you at all.

I much prefer the flood of first day of school pics of all the kids. Because, you know, they are the ones going back to school.

And because, you know, no one invited you to the momosa party. For obvious reasons.

Uh, you suck, and I'm sure you're raising nasty SAHM mean girls like yourself.

I hope you're responding to the FIRST poster, because they're the ones saying nasty things about people...

Right! Not all of us work at a university (my DH does, I know how lax it is over there...especially before the semester starts)

I’m pretty sure the teachers have margaritas right after school gets out. Chill.

Many do. I’m too physically exhausted and just want to go home to hear about my DD’s first day, but I know there’s a group at my school that has gone 19 years running.

And some of us don't have trashy work places like this. Speaking of critical thinking skills... Hoo boy.

What’s trashy about having a celebratory drink with your team? This is basically the whole concept of why there’s a happy hour. It actually helps a team be more cohesive in general if they can get together socially sometimes. End of the school year is like finishing s 10 month project, and MANY teams would celebrate that.

It’s also weird to use trashy to judge something very normal in society.

Nope, responding to the one who said 'no one invited you for obvious reasons.' They're both rude, but that's just ... so stereotypical / "I'm a cool mom!"

Anonymous wrote:I don't mean to be an idiot but aren't most school-aged kids in camp over the summer? Do any kids just stay home with mom all day at that age? I mean I'm sure there are SOME but it's not like every mom in town is dragging kids to Target as implied here. And if you're at the pool with elementary-age kids (yes, I have two) it's not exactly backbreaking labor.

I dont get this either.

You all need to chill out. This is mostly for SAHM’s with a few WAHM’s mixed in.

We don’t get trashed. It’s just for fun. We love our kids and summer, but it’s nice to have the structure back too. No my 8 and 11 yo were not in camp all summer, but no it’s not terribly hard to watch them anymore, although the fighting sucks.

You guys are so uptight!
