Hey OP, Who told you she’s a midwife? She simply isn’t. |
Why shouldn’t MDs get prosecuted when babies die needlessly? They ABSOLUTELY should. Also when the mothers die. |
I didn't want this to get lost in the fray. I love you, whoever you are. Please be my best friend. |
American hospital birth is a nightmare. It’s often the cause of postpartum depression. Women are typically not respected.
When I give birth, I decide what’s done to me and my child. Not some hotshot bozo. |
Only Certified Midwives (CMs), Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) and Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) are able to hold themselves out as midwives in America. “Midwife” as a title, connotes at a minimum, graduation from US Department of Education accredited program, regardless of variety in state licensing laws.
I have had two amazing experiences with all three types of midwives, they also consulted easily with MFM, I had all routine testing and ultrasounds and my kids are up to date on their vaccines...and I gave birth at home. It’s not for everyone, but it certainly wasn’t lesser care. The OP is maligning an entire profession based on someone who isn’t even recognized as a member of it. http://www.midwife.org/acnm/files/ccLibraryFiles/FILENAME/000000006807/FINAL-ComparisonChart-Oct2017.pdf |

Nah, CNMs are ok. But the rest are hacks - why would you want a hack delivering your child? In many states, "direct entry midwives" can be licensed and perform homebirths with barely any training or healthcare background. |
NP. Can you link to the research on this, please? |
Fake news. Or did she simply “identify” as a midwife? |
Why don’t you contract the reporter who wrote the article or the news editor who approved it and ask them? |
Why? They always go for shock appeal. |
Alright. Keep complaining in your small corner of the universe then. |
DP. She called herself a midwife. Argue with her, not the reporter or PP. |
Absolutely! I will bring you a delicious apricot while you sit on the steps of the hospital. The outside steps, of course. |
“Similar complications arose during the earlier pregnancy with a breech baby, he said, and Ms. Noe opted to have a C-section at the hospital after Ms Hock advised her of the risks. This time, he said, Ms. Hock once again warned Ms. Noe of the risks of a breech birth, but that she had opted to remain at home.”
From this article: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/06/us/nebraska-midwife.html She had a c-section two years ago, but decided to give it a go at home this time? The parents are culpable too. |
