MCPS Looking Into 'All-Gender' Bathrooms in Schools

Anonymous
Right now, they can't put cameras in bathrooms to catch vapers and others breaking rules. This would seem to allow them to do that. Not in the stall, of course, but at least kids couldn't congregate in the bathroom to vape...

They’ll put cams in the stalls if they claim to stop vaping.

OMG. They are not proposing to transition all bathrooms to unisex, just to create a few single stall unisex bathrooms primarily for use by transgender and nonbinary kids. Your snowflake can still use the regular bathroom.

I actually wondered if this is why I can't poop in public. I have a lot of digestive issues. No stall doors in middle school or hs due to drug use and sex.

i developed severe constipation in high schools and would poop once a week. I have serious issues still especially with public bathrooms to this day but now I have Ibs type issues which get much worse with stress and anxiety . Literally my life revolves around this issue . They ruined my life

It has literally never occurred to me to be concerned whether men have used a facility at one point before I have used it. I often go to friends’ houses for parties and dinners and have never been concerned that a man might have used the bathroom as well.

In any case.. I am positive that no school will replace ALL of its bathrooms with these. So kids will surely still have the option of using another traditional bathrooms.

You honestly can't see the difference between some male professional friends of yours sharing your bathroom at a dinner party and the tons of random men from all walks of life using a public toilet? Honestly?

If your school is letting tons of random men from all walks of life wander the hallways and use the student restrooms, then you have a much bigger issue.

If that was true, I don't think there'd be much opposition. In fact, this sounds like a good idea.

So private room bathrooms would have been a godsend for you. I know that they would for many of my students with disabilities.

This is going to be like ramps and elevators and closed captioning. Something originally driven by the needs of one group that turns out to have advantages for many people. Universal design for the win!

Many people in this country look at life as a zero sum game. They will oppose anything that helps someone who is different from them.

Absolutely.

Probably most people would prefer to use toilets enclosed by floor-to-ceiling walls, rather than stall walls that don't reach the floor or ceiling - no?
