When a celebrity in person really underwhelms you

Are you one of the princess hater trolls? If so, you must be mourning the one who got away

Agree. And very delicate featured.

No definitely not! Those ladies are something else.

Yes it was after the Nazi scandal and I believe right around the time of the Vegas scandal too. He just seemed basic and dim. I was expecting him to be gregarious.

I also agree with the Ethan Hawke poster. He’s very nice and intellectual. Loved meeting him!

Shared an elevator ride in Toronto with Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, he was gorgeous back then and she was incredibly beautiful and very petite. We made small talk about kids.

Met Jill Zarin on a beach in Aruba, her voice carried and I recognized it immediately.

My husband recognized Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin in a small bar in St. Lucia years ago. He was with a much younger woman.

I heard big heads look good on camera.

Giada, for example, is a lollipop but she looks good behind the camera.

Christina Ricci

I met Paul Newman in the mid-90s so he must have been about 70 or so. He was stunningly handsome even then.

My husband met Tom Cruise once. DH is 5'9" and he said that Tom was considerably shorter than him.

Dennis Quaid in St Barths and he was normal and nice. I know the subject says "underwhelms you" but everyone has been veering off that so thought I would too since he already had a mention here.

Geraldo Rivera - talk about super tiny!

Guliana and Bill Rancic. She actually looked great - I know she has some haters here but she looked beautiful when I met her and his veneers were just WOW. And not in a good way.

Mnuchin and wife. As awful as you would imagine.

Trump. Hair and orange face worse in person. Larger in person too in my opinion.

Chelsea Clinton - absolutely lovely and gracious.

Laura Bush - simply darling and so kind.

Josh Groban - seemed very little. I am 5'7" and he seemed much shorter than me but just googled and his people claim he is 5'10 or 5'11. This cannot be true.

Woody Harrelson - he was stoned off his a$$

Dana Bash - teeny, teeny tiny.

I've been told he can be very "handsy" by a solid source.

I don't know any of them but Joe strikes me as the charming "give an inch, take a mile" sort of guy.

Not underwhelmed but somewhat enchanted by these two encounters had by DD.

The first was when DD was 9 and DH, DD, and I were getting out of an elevator as Luke Wilson, his wife (then girlfriend), and dog (a dingo) were heading down the hall to get on elevator. He was filming in NM. DD had NO idea who Luke Wilson was, but she knew that she wanted to compliment the 'nice man and lady' on their 'cool dog' and so she did. They both gave her huge smiles and Wilson said "he's really wiped out from a long hike today." The whole encounter was so genuine and so lovely -- a really sweet look at celebrities who were being totally themselves, and I've always thought they were probably so relieved that we didn't ask for conversation or a picture and that DD clearly had no clue she was talking with a Hollywood star and his brilliant and talented SO (she's a former WBNA star and an attorney).

Last summer, when she was nearly 13, DD was on our hotel elevator by herself, heading to meet me at the pool, with two women whom she recognized as the stars of Riverdale (Madelaine Petsch and Camila Mendes, "Cheryl" and "Veronica"). She asked them for a selfie, which they graciously gave, and she thanked them and told me they were "so sweet." She was by herself that time so I can only relate her impressions, although the selfie reveals great smiles on all three . That time, obviously, DD knew exactly what was going on .

Our family doesn't travel to exotic locales, and even if we are in major cities like LA, we don't stay downtown or in the heart of Santa Monica, so we're not in celebrity havens, so to speak. That's why it's been extra fun for DD to meet talented and kind people when one 'least expects it.'

Elizabeth Warren is one of only senators who refuses to take impromptu questions from journalists, will rarely do on record interviews -- frankly as a woman I found it disgusting that she was either too inept to discuss topics unscripted or too self-important to do what is expected of all the rest.

John McCain, DiFi, Chuck Grassley, Amy Klobuchar were gems -+ so smart, could discuss so many different issues at drop off a hat and genuinely thoughtful, kind people.

all these political posts are so biased.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is also super short.

I met a lot of celebrities in my 20s. I was shocked at how many of the women were roughly my size, I am 5'2" and very small.

Cameron Diaz during the height of her career. Attractive but much more "cute" and normal-looking and shorter than I expected.
