| Tenure at MCPS is now Day 1 of Year 4. |
What typos? There weren’t any, just readers who didn’t understand personal vs. personnel. They said exactly what they meant. |
|
You’ve gotta love the letters parents get from MCPS. Sample ones from a principal:
There was an incident at school today and an ambulance came. The situation was resolved and the ambulance then departed. Something inappropriate was said—or done—today. An administrator reported the incident to police, who took their call. Here are some sample ones from central: We will not tolerate any incident like the unnamed one that happened today. Please remind your child to refrain from any and all ncidents. We are allowing the police to conduct an investigation, during which time we will assess how we conduct assessments. Due to a personal personnel incident, Principal X will not be returning to school. |
depends on your anniversary date Many are hired mid-year. |
Ha! Pathetic and true. DH and I always comment about the ridiculous emails that are sent out. |
A buyout/early retirement makes sense if they wanted to avoid litigation (which could have been the case given the affair which could have been spun as sexual harassment since she was a teacher and he was her boss/principal). |
Also, many teachers start at 22 or 23. They can’t get full SS if they retire after just 30 years so people with 35-40 years is the norm. If you have 30 years by July 1, you can retire anytime the next year. Many people retire July 1 or put in a full extra year. However, I know quite a few teachers who retire in the Fall or after Winter Break. My mom retired the week before Halloween because she didn’t feel comfortable traveling in the dark anymore. |
