It shows a lack of organization and regard for the kids. You actually think it was ok forbyiur son's team to be coached from a guy behind a fence 20 yards further away because he forgot his credential?

And if you leave their team shame emails to parents and onfield retribution to a player are not unheard of - which was more recent that 5 years ago. Good Luck

That credentials thing happened to a lot of teams this past year. The coaches just stood behind the fence and coached from the first row of the bleachers. It was not a big deal, so don't get too down on your coaches/team for that.

I'd sure be irritated if I were paying $3,600 a year for that kind of shocking incompetence.

Ignore all the haters. If your kid is excited, he should try it out, even if he is on the DMV team. I no longer have kids in HS, but we played Madlax from elementary school through soph year in HS. My kid played on the B team his first season, along with a ton of other kids that are now playing D1 lax. We also had the owner as the Coach at one point. He is/was a loud mouth, but it didn't bother my son. The other coaches were all really good too. Overall we had a good experience.

The credential "thing" did not happen to the vast majority of the other clubs that submitted the paperwork and background checks to Howard County on time. Madlax DMV is no where near as good as the Capital teams. There is a huge drop off. There was a mass exodus recently from one of the better Madlax Capital teams. That may be an indicator. Also, be aware that with most club teams, you try out in August and you are on the team through the next summer. Madlax has tryouts every season and the fees that go along with all of that. Buyer beware.

Sure - dismiss my feedback if that makes you feel better, but it was a sincere post. FWIW, we ended up leaving madlax b/c at the time my kid needed a change. It's not exactly easy for me to say nice things about the program, especially since Cabel doesn't even acknowledge me, but it's the truth from my perspective. We had a great time throughout those years, played at the highest level, and even beat up on the Crabs a few times. That said, it's been a few years since we've been part of the program, so things may have changed.

Being on their DMV team is terrible, and you know it. It's bad enough to on thrir DMV team, but because rhey didn't have enough guys, they have a combined 2020/2021/2022 DMV team. So they will take those poor families' money, but no college coach will ever see that team

That's the Madlax way.

I am not Madlax, and it happened to our coach and the opposing coach our first game. It was 1-2 yards behind the fence if you've been to any of the HoCo fields. Our coach couldn't "regard" our kids more and couldn't be more dedicated, but he may be a bit disorganized so I'll give you that.

Madlax posts publically on their website all fees, practices, tournaments and rosters. You can go look this up for any team even if you aren’t part of the program. Very transparent and pretty organized overall if you ask me.

Well, you can determine if it is a scam or not based on your own observations. If your son is part of the DMV team with promises of potentially moving up to Capital, but you realize that Capital is basically at capacity and none of those kids are going anywhere ... you're getting sold a bill of goods that will never materialize. At younger age groups, the dynamic is more fluid and kids move. As you go up in age groups, that window shrinks significantly.

Madlax will and does make changes to their rosters to help them win - but this typically takes the form of new kids from other clubs coming in and taking spots ... not kids on DMV moving up to Capital team.

My oldest son started out on the "blue" team (the B team several years ago). It was his first year playing lacrosse at u13. He moved up to the Orange (A) team the following year and went on to play D1 lacrosse. If you are a good athlete and work hard you can move up. If not you won't make one of the better clubs in the area so there is no downside to playing on any B team if you enjoy the sport. If we still lived in the area my youngest would be playing for Madlax.

The downside is the extra money you pay for MadLax relative to other teams in the area. The "MadLax premium" might be worth it for the Caps teams but a kid can get the same experience on another travel team for a lot less money than on the MadLax B teams.

Some kids plays years on B hoping to move up and it never happens. B teams are there just to make money for that club.
