Anti-Semitic Comments from Trayon White

There's an elephant in the room.

The antisemitism from Democrats, including associations with Farrakhan, appear to be coming almost exclusively from blacks. This is particularly disconcerting in that these black officials, fighting to reduce (or ideally eradicate) racism against black people are they themselves either accepting bigotry (at best) or propagating it (at worst) against another group of people who have long been victims of prejudice.

This needs to stop, and the backlash against black politicians who advance or accept antisemitic attitudes must come not from Jews, but from other black leaders. There seems to be pressure, though, not to do this, and history has shown that blacks who speak out are often condemned themselves.

Professor Henry Louis Gates famously said that antisemitism among blacks "compromises their moral struggle" and, as a result, was the recipient of death threats. Virtually nobody supported him. Thus, the situation is even worse. Not only is it beyond hypocritical for one group of people, fighting against prejudice, to turn turn around and promote prejudice against another, there seems to be an unwritten rule that when it occurs, there is to be no criticism of that behavior from the offending group.

This article, although dated, reveals the righteousness of Henry Louis Gates.

Well said! So where are our Black leaders? Mayor Bowser? Mayor Gray? No one is saying what needs to be said, and that is a disgrace on top of the disgrace that is Trayon White.

I'm Jewish and wasn't offended nor saw his comments as Anti-Semitic. Maybe I didn't see the entire video, I heard him mention the Rothschilds not Jews as a whole

Yes, it's despicable. They are condoning anti-Semitism with their silence, and essentially saying "bigotry is no big deal if it's directed at the Jews." Yet, they want sympathy and support in the fight against bigotry toward blacks.

And what about the black woman who posted yesterday that she is fine with anti-Semitic officials? I'm speechless by the hypocrisy and audacity.

You need to learn some history if you don’t think this is anti-Semitic.

They don’t condemn him because they agree with him.

The people of Ward 8 have legitimate grievances and issues. They deserve an awesome, smart, savvy, and capable leader to represent their interests.

That person is NOT Trayon White. He's compromised his position by making these outrageous claims. How can he be an effective leader and advocate when all the focus is on his stupid antics?

I hope Ward 8 gets the leader they deserve. They deserve a brilliant man or woman.

You must be very young. The Rothschilds have been the "poster family" of the "rich, greedy Jews" for decades. And besides, he's made anti-Semitic statements prior to this, too. All excused, forgiven, or overlooked.

It's amazing the excuses that are made when a black Democrat makes anti-Semitic statements.

Disgusting.

But why?

He somehow graduated from Ballou, got into UMD - Eastern Shore, and graduated magna cum laude.

a ballou degree is useless. Even if you do show up to class, this is a school where less than 5% of students are on grade level. And they still get diplomas. total joke of a school.

You know that isn't a true statement. I've worked closely with the students at Ballou High School prior to making Georetown Prep my home. I assure you that the students are very intelligent. There is actually only 7% of students who aren't on grade level.

I wonder if people would be reacting differently if this was a white male councilmember...

Yes, there would've been absolutely no coverage, no backlash and no talk of resignations

Judging from your reply I'm assuming he didn't mention anyone other than the Rothschild. Which isn't Anti-Semitic nor a direct insult at Jews at all. My parents agree and they've been here much longer than the mere 32yrs of mine. Also I don't go out of my way to defend Black Dems or Black people period. Not that I have a problem with them or anything. So your assumptions that I'm making excuses is completely wrong
