Metropolitan DC Local Politics
There are highly educated people who believe this stuff too. One of my best friends all the way from middle school, has a masters degree, was born in a middle eastern country but left islam decades ago, no longer speaks to me because I'm jewish. he blames jews for all the problems in his life. And before he cut off contact with me, he would ask me "did you know that the rotschilds were responsible for..". I think he might be mentally ill, he's been more and more paranoid over the years, but now he wants nothing to do with me anymore for me simply being jewish.. Nothing I did.. In fact I kept the friendship going while he had alienated most of our mutual friends from middle and high school. |
I think a bigger concern should be the antisemtism White is spreading among his constituents. Let's stop worrying for one second on whether something sounds patronizing to Ward 8 residents and focus instead on showing them that antisemtism is not acceptable. |
If there were a conservative cafe in DC and it hosted David duke, the same thing? The fact is they invited him, they hosted him, and there was zero outrage, zero conseuquences, like having a virulent antisemite being given a guest of honor privilege at a major hangout in DC is no big deal. |
David Duke is a well-known figure. If he was schedule to speak, people who know who he is and why they should protest. Who has even heard of this guy? If you were correct and anti-Semites were popular among progressives, he would be well-known. As it is, he is a nobody. |
Exactly. The timid response of white liberals to these outrageous wacko bigoted outbursts from an elected official is an (unintended) insult to African-Americans and to Ward 8 as a whole. White liberals think they are doing good with these attitudes, but they are making it worse. Let's all stand up for truth and respect, and against wacko racist idiocy. We have enough of that with Trump. |
| I'm from Southeast, DC, but not Ward 8. This whole thing is so unsurprising. It's a miracle voters there didn't elect someone even stupider, more antisemitic or prone to conspiracy theories than Trayon White. Seriously, the ward has so many issues. No amount of gentrification will oust the generational poverty ingrained in the multitude of housing projects over there. It's crazy. I mean they kept Marion Barry was revered. Congress had to assume control of the city when he was in power. He got arrested for smoking crack with a hooker. I mean what can you say? |
He's not a nobody. And the left props him up. The first time I ever heard of him was on the "progressive radio network". And why did busboys and poets invite him? They ADL has even written about him. https://www.adl.org/blog/anti-semitic-conspiracy-theorist-christopher-bollyn-speaks-in-brooklyn https://www.currentaffairs.org/2016/09/let-the-kooks-speak/ |
+ 1 Just like when the Congressional Black Caucus invited Farrakahn to their meeting. There continues to be an effort here to say that acceptance of anti-Semitism is not common among mainstream Democrats, yet we have proment Democratic Congresspeople rubbing shoulders with a virulent anti-Semite. There has never been a valid explanation as to why such a hateful anti-Semite was seen as fitting company at the CBC. And sure, Council members FINALLY came out against White's antisemitism with statements,, but only after those pesky Jews made such a stink about it. The only appropriate action is to oust him for his reprehensible views toward Jews. (And don't give me that he didn't know Rothschilds were a euphemism for "powerful greedy Jews" blamed for the worlld's problems.) |
I think there's possibly a tiny chance he might actually believe Rotschild doesn't means jews, but he's said it multiple times now. He probably will have to play dumb and say he was stupid and didn't realize it. But even that would make him come out as an idiot, beyond the weather control stuff. just will just go away. there will be no consequences, just like with the CBC inviting farrakhan. The left is mainstreaming or at best looking the other way at antisemitism and I'm curious why. |
Yup. And the response from liberals here (some anyway) is that this is being overblown and that the left is not mainstreaming antisemtism. Part of that is their belief in their moral superiority where bigotry is concerned, so how can they square that with increasing antisemtism on the left? The only thing they can do is soft-pedal it. As far as black Democrats' assoication with Farrakan, I've been given the excuse that while he's nasty toward the Jews, he's done good for blacks. IOW, they're willing to look the other way because antisemtisim isn't seen as all that bad, and some of them actually agree with it. White has to go. Anything less is acceptance of bigotry (and idiots). |
I've asked my liberal friends about this, and if they don't ignore the question, the response is always "but Israel does this and that". Then I say but I thought the left only has a problem with zionists and not jews? THey are clearly ranting about jews, then they don't respond or change the subject again.. |
Absolutely! I've seen the terms Zionist and Jew used interchangeably. Very often, the rage and putdowns over Isrsael is the PC-way to complain about Jews. There is a big overlap. |
The left is not mainstreaming anti-Semitism. The fact that your "evidence" of such a thing is a marginal DC Council Member (who believably claims to be too stupid to know he was being anti-Semitic), a years old meeting with Farrakhan, and a two-year old book reading by someone of whom nobody has ever heard, demonstrates that anti-Semitism is not being mainstreamed. Anti-Semitism is strongly rejected and condemned by almost all of the left. |
And let me guess you will delete all posts and close all threads that don't comport to your view that the left isn't mainstreaming antisemitsm? THE FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE USA MET WITH LOUIS FARRAKHAN AT A CBC EVENT. It was then covered up. THere is ZERO outrage from the left. |
I will delete all off-topic posts. What a former president of the USA did several years ago has nothing to do with a DC Council member. |
