Tell me about your engagement ring

we're both journalists -- knew I wasn't going to get 2 carat princess cut of my dreams so I suggested thin pave diamond band -- have stacked two more on it for wedding ring and first kid push prez. two platinum, one gold -- love it how it looks when I remember to clean them. all three in total are prob 7k.

Mine is 1.5 ct radiant cut, almost flawless, on a wide platinum band. i have the saddest story about the 5 year anniversary ring that DH got me; it was a custom-made twin of my eternity wedding band. after using the bathroom one day, it literally fell into the toilet right after i pressed the flush handle...fell right in and flushed right away. that was almost 10 years ago; i still feel a little nauseous when i think about it...

Wow, you care a lot about appearances. Not cute.

Of course I do, it's something you wear every day for the rest of your life. Why in heck would you not care a lot about how it looks?

I dislike engagement rings for many reasons so I don't have one.

Do you live in the same house? Why would you not check the trap (or have a plumber do it)? I have never flushed a ring but as a prosecutor I have firsthand experience of knowing metal objects often end up lodged in the trap in the pipes when you flush them. We have recovered evidence months and months after the fact.

27 carats, worth 5 billion dollars.

I am lucky to have two beautiful family engagement rings. My husband gave me his grandmama’s 6 1/2 transitional cut solitaire set in a platinum figured setting.

My Mom died 5 years ago and I inherited her 3+ carat rose cut diamond engagement ring with a platinum and diamond band. Both seem too big for daily wear now, but I wear Mons a lot because I miss her.

Don't think many people care about worthless stone rings either.

Apparently 8 pages’ worth of people care. Go back to the Relationships forum and be miserable and lament why your husband thinks you’re a miserable hag.

3.24 ct round solitaire, set low and in white gold. Picked out the stone, setting & wedding bands from a vendor in the NYC diamond district highly recommended on PriceScope, got some good mileage for the money. Love it!

Was it insured? I would have claimed it.
