It's even simpler than that - there's always a girl or two sidelined from injury who can't work on at least one apparatus. If you need to see the doctor, bring your injured friend with you as a witness. |
Um, no. An adult. |
Good God you can’t be serious??!! Well there we have it folks, some adults are just really slow. I hope you don’t have a kid in sports. |
Agree. An adult who is an advocate for child protection from sexual predators. USA Gymnastics knew these children were being systematically raped. They even demanded the children must write down for them exactly what the rapist was doing to them in full detail. The children had no advocate to help them complete this incredulous demand. |
| IN some cases the child’s Mother was in the room while he molested them. If the moms can’t see it happening and stop it I don’t know who could. He must be a very good manipulator. |

It's really sickening to me that Nassar was involved with both the Karolyis' and John Geddert. Both men seem to me to be feared by the gymnasts they coach and Nassar was there to "save" them. I've only read a little about Geddert, but I've read many stories over the years about Bella Karolyi belittling gymnasts for their weight and forcing them to adhere to extremely strict diets, outbursts of rage and anger, incidents of physical violence and then physiological torment by doing things like completely ignoring a gymnast if he felt she wasn't performing correctly.
At 6 years old, I remember watching Mary Lou Retton compete in the Olympics and I also grew up idolizing Nadia. Bella Karolyi was the coach for both of these gymnasts, but I've never heard either one say anything negative about him. Is this some kind of sick loyalty thing or did he have favorites that he treated "decently"? Did he only prey on certain ones because from everything I've read it seemed like everything he did was done very much in the open and in front of other gymnasts as a way of creating fear, shame and intimidation. More and more, this just seems like such a bizarre and sick world. |

If you have not watched Aly Raisman's victim impact statement all the way through, I encourage you to do so. Extremely courageous and powerful - and she calls out members of the USOC and USA Gymnastics, quite heavily.
|
| The Karolyis, apparently, have been in Romania since Rio. Cowards. Back to where they were able to get away with more outward abuse of gymnasts. Once they got to the US they had to adjust their tactics. |
Bastards. And all of those who colluded with them and Nassar and Michigan State in the systematic abuse and assault of hundreds, if not thousands, over so many decades. |
Way to go Aly!!! |
And the greedy parents allowed their kids to do this? Inconceivable. And they didn't believe their kids when they tried to tell them? Or they turned a blind eye because they wanted their girls to have the best coaches and a shot at Olympic gold? Unforgivable. The parents were complicit on some level. Denial isn't a defense. |
My knowledge of gymnastics is rather limited, but even I know that Karolyi is a violent nutjob. I would never leave my child in his care. Chasing Olympic gold isn't a legit reason to abdicate parental responsibility of your child. It just makes you look greedy and irresponsible. And now we have proof that it was a reckless decision with heartbreaking consequences. |
Why do you believe USA Gymnastics supported such a reckless and abusive environment for these children? |
No clue. But pointing your finger doesn't erase your own mistake. |
| So, am I understanding this correctly that over 100 smart accomplished young ladies did not realize they were being sexually harassed by this doctor? |
