He appears to be promoting his work life balance. He squeezed in a clinic tour before visiting his son for lunch in a 5 hour trip to Tennessee that cost us taxpayers 15K for his private ride on a Lear Jet.

I'm trying to parse out Tom Price's statement that he will reimburse taxpayers for "his seat" on the charter jets. I'm guessing he had at least 10 people with him for each trip. So instead of paying the $300K that his choices to travel on the private plane cost, he'll end up reimbursing the US Government $30K? That's being really cheap given that the other 9 people could have flown commercial were it not for his expensive tastes.

His private plane travel cost 400k. But I agree that if he ends up paying the cost of his seat alone, it's just a slap on the wrist.

What would happen to any normal civil servant who cost the US Government $350K (400K-the 50K he's paying back)? He certainly wouldn't be allowed to just pay back a fraction and keep his job. Disgusting. #this is not what draining the swamp looks like

After Trump publicly said he "we'll see" when asked if he would fire Price, adding he is “not happy about it, will look into it" and House Democrats began calling for Price to resign, the HHS chief is trying to smooth things over by writing a personal check to cover the enormous costs of the flights. Except he’s only covering the cost of his one seat on all those flights. Even though he chartered the entire plane, on our taxpaying bill, he’s only reimbursing approximately 12.9 percent of the total cost. Secretary Fancy Pants isn’t only using high-priced government jets to buzz around the country. He has also been pushing to reopen the executive dining room.
