Did anyone see the Today show story today about circumcision? How timely! Looks like the CDC is coming out with a "strong recommendation" for circumcision, and the American Academy of Pediatrics will likely follow. |
I missed it. If you wish to quote the AIDS in Africa stuff again, really look into what's going on there. Our tax dollars were given away by GWB in order to fund the circumcision revolution in Africa. You read about the cuts in the spread of AIDS, but not about the fact that these men are actually educated about safe sex practices.
There was a study of the effects of the circumcised penis and the spread of Aids to the female population. It was forced to close because so many women in the study were contracting AIDS from their circ'ed partners. There truly is so little information out there for those in poor African countries. I will never forget watching Prince Harry with a tiny AIDS infected baby in an African orphanage. This poor child didn't contract AIDS from her mother, but from the man who raped her. He had raped this infant because he was told that sex with an infant would cure his AIDS. If he had only been educated about AIDS and how to prevent it, and that there was no cure, that poor baby wouldn't have been put through such a traumatic even, one that will eventually evolve into a long suffering death. The easy solution is going and Americanising foreign men but it really doesn't cure the problem, and creates so many more issues. If our tax dollars are funding this, then why not do a study on AIDS education and make sure condoms are readily available. FYI the AIDS and HIV rates in the DC area are higher than most African nations. Just an end thought. The foreskin, which has a direct purpose and function. It is there to protect the head of the penis from injury. Simple injuries such as keeping it from scratching underwear or the crotch stitches in jeans and keeps the head lubricated. It also keeps things from easily entering the urethra which can cause infection. Removing it can result in loss of sensitivity, excess scar tissue, a curved penis, a hairy penis (when too much as been taken and the head is attached to skin that should really be part of the scrotum), an accidental cut of the head of the penis, or two little being taken causing painful adhesion. You leave it on, it acts like a scratch guard, and you go on with your life. You don't have to worry about what you should have done, because nothing will go wrong. Then, if your son grows up and decides to be circumcised, it's his choice. Most importantly educate your children about sex and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. Make sure to speak openly and honestly with them about it and the importance of never having unprotected sex. |
So I was looking for the Today show segment, and came across this article from Men's Health: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/29777922/ns/health-mens_health/
It is quite interesting! By the way, here is the link to the Today show video: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/32537553#32537110 |
