Current 8th graders at NCS, applying out for 9th?

They selected NCS for the exact opposite reason and they want a good education without all of the other lifestyle foolishness. Basically, they'll take care of that you take care of the academics.

Applying out is one thing. Why not take a last chance to look around before HS? But did the NCS family actually GO elsewhere? It's easy to knock the place but finding better is much harder.

And the admissions are quite difficult for all high schools at or about the academic level of NCS. Even if the girls preferred another school, admission is far from guaranteed. This is not in anyway knock on NCIS students, it is just a fact that applicants to all of the top schools in need to be both a highly qualified and quite lucky to gain admission.

This is true and something NCS parenst and girls dont seem to understand. I absolutely think NCS is the best girls' school in the area. Hands down it is the most impressive, has the most intense curriculum and best college placement. However, that doesntt mean getting into say, Holton, Visi, or SR from NCS for highschool is going to be a cakewalk. Those schools are very tough to get into and there are no guarantees, regardless if you are coming from one of the best privates in the DC area. The results, that those 28 NCS girls who applied out have recieved, are the evidence.

What are the results of the 28 trying to leave? I know of 3 confirmed leaving...but do not know the rest.....

No one knows which 3 you "know" of, so no one can confirm if they know of any others. Seriously, if you are a parent at this school, go work on being friendlier to more people in your community so they can answer your questions, and stop trolling the anonymous internet for gossip.

- non-NCS parent who is sick of these kinds of threads on the independent school forum

Contracts become binding on June 1st.

If you are non NCS parent who does not like the thread..get off the thread. You are not at the school so...really does not concern you. It does concern those of us invested....

Also, it is rude to ask people where they are headed...it is like asking about finances. Do you ask people where they were rejected/accepted to college? I know of 3... because told by members of community...I don't ask. 17:12 do you ask? Glad you are not at NCS..

But if you are a parent at NCS and you are interested, just ask an 8th grade parent. Why come to this forum where most of the information is unreliable?

I am interested parent but not interested enough to ask an eighth grade parent...I am equally interested in the skin care thread...
I am the parent though, that thinks it is really rude to ask people about their school choice and why leaving...most often the reason is academic or financial...sometimes a divorce...

Agree it is rude to ask people why they are leaving but I also think it is rude to "out" families on a public forum. I don't think people should be posting "one girl leaving for . . ."

Just give it a rest. if you are an NCS family, you will find out in the fall when the directory comes out.

Let's just say that the NCS to Bullis pipeline is alive and well.
