But I have met the bidens and they are NOT white trash.

yes they are - they give off a distinct sleazy uncouth vibe. Joe comes off as a used car salesmen trying to hawk off-lease audis and mercs.

the rest of the clan rides his coattails.

Parents do their best to raise good, hard-working, responsible children, but it does not always turn out that way. Once a child is a grown-up adult the responsibility is on them.

+1. I also wonder if hunters problems are in any way linked to all the pain killers he was probably on after the accident that killed his mother and sister. I don't think we really have a good understanding of how those drugs affect developing brain chemistry and endorphin receptors particularly. It doesn't excuse his problems of course but maybe factored into the addiction problem. This family seems like they've had a lot of pain over the years, unfortunately.

Very true.

But the statement Jill and Joe released supports the new "couple." That's enabling a very toxic situation, especially if Hunter Biden has addictions.

That might have been a strategic move to get out in front of this damning filing from Kathleen.

I know plenty of people from that area- its a small city/large town for sure but its not freaking some mountain wooded shack with inbreeding!

A news article contemporary with the accident records that Hunter sustained head injuries, and had to be taken away by ambulance, while Beau had injuries to his leg. Head injuries can impact one for life, and it reminds me of Al Gore III who has had some similar issues, and who was also severely injured in a hit from a car when he was a child.

I don't think most physicians prescribing these drugs have a good understanding of what they're doing.

I'm laughing at whoever thinks the bidens are pushing themselves as some second coming of Camelot.

You have no understanding of them at all.

Amtrak Joe? Come on...

I will repeat myself for the weirdo calling them white trash.

No, they are not. You may see him as a slick politician. You obviously just don't like him or his politics.

I have met them. I have spent time with their extended family. They are down to earth, very genuine people. Years later, his sister remembered me and chatted my mom up about how I was doing.

i can't speak for his sons, but joe, Jill and Valerie are all fantastic.

That family has suffered so much tragedy, beginning with the car accident that took Joe Biden's first wife and his young daughter and then Beau dying so young while in the prime of his life and his career.

Probably Hunter and Hallie were good friends before Beau's death and then they leaned on each other heavily after Beau's death while they were both grieving and emotions were high.

Not sure what prompted the split between Hunter and Kathleen but maybe that was going to happen anyway?

Or Joe and Jill Biden may have decided that it was better to support Hunter and Hallie's relationship in order to maintain access to all their grandkids and do what could be done to support the grandkids since 2 out of three of the remaining parents seem pretty emotionally messed up.

I went thru a messy split from my ex in similar circumstances to Kathleen Biden (minus the hard drugs and $80k diamond). My parents were totally supportive of me, but they were also very careful to be uber nice to my ex on the rare times they saw him. Their behavior was all about maintaining access to our kids if anything should ever happen to me. And given how out of control my ex was, we all took precautions to ensure continued access should he ever have had custody.

Also, frankly, having lost one son so young, it's not likely that a parent would willingly cast the other aside.
