+10000 The times they are a changin'. Sorry olds. |
You don't know the word no? No one has ever flirted with you? Enjoy your sad little life. |
No. I hope they're not. It's an old ass song, not current. That's why it's good to talk about what is changed. |
You've never had someone take no for an answer? You don't know that only yes means yes? No one has ever pressure you into sex or raped you? Enjoy your happy little life. The world is a little darker than you think it is. |
I sure do. Did you confuse me with Lynn Garland? |
Hmm. A lot of children i know are pretty violent then. As are telemarketers. |
Any woman who caves to such weak-ass pressure as demonstrated in this song and has sex when she doesn't want to isn't old enough to date without a chaperone. Grow up. |

Just ticking it off the numbers from the top of my head, I've turned down about 35 men for sex over the years with either a direct no or leaving the scene immediately. It's not rocket science. People are free to try to convince me of something, and I'm free to say no or get the hell out. The exception is if someone has some sort of power of you you, like employment. Now if you make the man in the BICO song her boss, then yes, it's very coercive. Yes, someone has pressured me to have sex -- my husband. I'd say that's fairly typical for a DH to make his best pitch and not give up right away. The most coerced I've ever been is a car sales office where they took my keys and wouldn't give them back because they wanted to keep me talking about their dam car. A threat to call the police finally got my keys back. |
No it is not. You are all so foolish. |
And we have a winner!!! |
Lawyers too. And any kid who tries to talk their grade up. Or parents who try to get their kids on just the right team. |
Yes the hell they are. Get over it. |
Have you ever been in a happy consensual sexual relationship? Serious question. |
Re: the song: Back then "good" girls didn't say "yes", they were "wooed" until they finally gave-in. The man conquered. Women weren't allowed to want it. Very harmful for women's sexuality (even if the final result is desire/passion, void of force/dominance) |
