What's Jared Kushner's long game?

Ivanka converted Orthodox. She is 100% jewish, regardless of how she dresses or whether she observes Shabbat. Her children are Jewish. Jared's father committed crimes and did his time for them. Jared has committed no crimes, nor has he ever been charged with one.

I am not a Trump supporter but these vicious attacks are completely unnecessary.

Thank you. The hate on this forum is unbelievable.

When did you start denouncing the baseless and virulently personal attacks on the Clinton's and Obama's?

Does an Orthodox Jew dress as she does?

I'll bite. Certain orthodox women do, i'd say they're more commonly considered modern orthodox. Traditional orthodox women would cover their arms, etc. One thing I haven't thought to observe throughout this though is if there are images or video of Jared or Ivanka riding in a car, plane, etc. on a Saturday. If so, then they are most certainly not orthodox - modern or traditional. Orthodox Jews observe the sabbath. Not that any of this really matters anyway.

Appreciate the response. Not many Jews in my area and I really don't understand all the different factions.

Then educate yourself beyond asking weird questions on a parenting board.

Actually - it was helpful to me as well. The person responded to the question in a clear and coherent manner, and in an non-judgemental tone. Asking a question, is a way of informing yourself.

So is using Google.

Does just anyone determine for themselves what's actually "Jewish"?

Generally no. I don't think any synagogue - reform, conservative and certainly not orthodox - would consider someone Jewish unless they are by matrilineal descent, or they converted. That said, my guess is many reform and reconstructionist synagogues would be welcoming to "non-Jews" who are interested in the religion, attending services, etc. But you can't simply declare yourself as Jewish - but the religion is generally very welcoming to people who are serious about converting. Unfortunately it can get more complicated from there. Take a child of a woman converted by a reform rabbi - like me - who was raised in a very traditional conservative household, when to hebrew day school, has identified as Jewish their whole life. Since my mother was not converted by an orthodox rabbi, I am not considered Jewish in the eyes of the Orthodox synagogue. But because of the 1/4 rule in Israel, since I have 2 Jewish grandparents, I am automatically entitled to citizenship.

how horrible

Beats the snake handling Trumpsters.

It's frightening how gullible people are that they parrot this crap about them being "Orthodox Jews" like they're spiritual and clean. Kushners are one of THE sleaziest mafia families in the Tri-state area.

And note his Jewish brethren tripping over themselves to tell the dumb masses how smart he is. The dimpled layabout was BRIBED into Harvard and NYU Law School.

Bingo! If you've seen The Godfather you know how these families operate. Trump is straight out of this playbook.
