I thought the "fix" they were considering was moving the AAP center to Poe from the overcrowded Glasgow and use Annandale to east Stuart's capacity issues. |
|
The draft CIP is supposed to be released later this month, so that may provide some indication as to any boundary or program changes that are priorities.
I say "may" because they moved a few years ago to a format of identifying dozens of potential options in the CIP, most of which were based on forecasts that turned out to be inaccurate and will never see the light of day. |
I doubt that would help much as there are only 97 kids (made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders) transferring in to Glasgow for AAP. Perhaps making Glasgow a grades 7 and 8 middle school and sending the 6th graders back to the elementary schools would help? |
Except for Belvedere, all the ES feeding into Glasgow will have capacity to accept 6th grade students at the ES level. Belvedere's numbers are messed up in Dashboard -- it shows 473 K students in AAP and 726 1st graders in AAP. (!) |
Another "fix" for Annandale -- move out Mason Crest ES to Falls Church HS. I'm sure the loss of yet more single-family homes in the Annandale boundary will help the school.
|
Are you referring to the CIP language about moving Mason Crest to the Falls Church pyramid for administrative purposes? No kids at Mason Crest go to Annandale now, unless they pupil place for IB. About 75% go to Poe and Falls Church, and the rest are zoned for Glasgow and Stuart. |
| Whatever came out of this |
| Nothing. Nor would you expect anything to, if you've ever met Steve Lockard. |
