But with the departure of the head soccer coach who also happened to be the Admissions Director (yes, a symbiotic relationship) last year, the team is already much less dominant than it has been. Still a winning program, but with teams like Landon nipping at their heels, or paws as it were:

Congrats to St Albans for finishing first in the IAC.

Didn't Landon win it last year? I think 2017 will be even stronger.

No. Landon had a good team but St. Albans won in 2016.

I'm confused - high school soccer is a fall sport for all private schools and DC? In VA, the soccer season is in the spring? What about in MD?
Anonymous
Yes, soccer is a fall sport for the privates, and a spring sport in VA public schools. I'm almost certain it's a fall sport for the MD publics.

Maret soccer beat St Albans yesterday.

Maret football beat St Albans last week.

Maret should move into the IAC!

Maret would beat St. Albans in hoops too.

Baseball would be very even.

Maret should strongly consider joining the IAC.

One can have "high school memories" independent of athletics

They have a strong program now, to be clear, but over the long haul, it is difficult to sustain given sheer numbers.

For sure. But if you play for your high school, those are some of the fondest and strongest memories most have of their high school experience.

My pretty good DD doesn't even play ECNL or DA and they are being advised by the club coaches not to play the majority of games on the private school HS team due to the potential for overuse injuries. Really too bad they make the teams so incompatible. She is going to pay a few games that don't conflict with practice days.

Classic example of how the club coaches operate. It is about lining their own pockets, in large part.

I know it's early in the season, but how are the teams in the IAC looking?

Landon has been dominant thus far.

Big game tomorrow vs DeMatha.

Please. You can't just "join" the IAC you have to get voted in. Plus, there are schools, such as Potomac, which would be voted in before Maret. As far as the IAC got, lacrosse matters more than any other sport and Maret is bottom of the barrel in lax.
