I believe that if it made it to the Supreme court that someone could prove they were denied entry solely due to their religion of choice than it would be deemed unconstitutional.

Ah but if they were a segment of a population subset which is currently causing major issues/deaths/insurrection? Can France and Belgium determine the enemies within?

I would argue that Christianity is just as anti-gay and has been just as responsible for the LGBT hatred that bolstered the Orlando shooter. I would argue that the Westboro Baptist Church espouses a belief that is very upsetting to a lot of Americans.

You're allowed to be an american and a communist, you're allowed to be an american and a muslim, you're allowed to be an american and support Kim Jong Un. You're allowed to think and say basically whatever the eff you want if you're an american. That's our whole thing. You certainly aren't required to become a gun-toting, medical marijuana smoking, hamburger eating, american ninja warrior watching, firework lighting 'merican just because you immigrated here.

I agree that people who hate America shouldn't be allowed to immigrate but the Muslim faith doesn't hate America, that isn't what the Koran says.

Do you really not understand how picking and choosing who comes into our country based on their religious beliefs is in direct conflict with the first amendment and the very spirit of our country? I mean the political stuff is more relevant here (can you LOVE america and be a fan of totalitarian governments? probably not). But the religion thing is SPECIFICALLY called out.

Lawyer here. I hate Trump. I think his ban is really stupid. But it's probably not unconstitutional. Congress can basically do whatever it wants when it comes to immigration. 1st amendment protects Americans and people on American soil, not people trying to get here. There are cases about this.

Actually many people argue that it is for this reason that they don't want intolerance radical Muslims here because it is THEY who are not tolerant of gays, women's' rights, etc... One could argue that the Anerican way is tolerance and openness and allowing people who threaten these ideals to vine in and change the country is anti-American. Mateen's wife was not allowed to drive in California by her family because she is a woman. Btw I have close friends as well that are Muslims but they are westernized and have assimilated and even though they were not born here, they love America and I feel they are as American as I am.
