Why are rich women skinny?

I am not rich (HHI 600s) but my social circle involves a lot of millionaires (like legit millionaires, not millionaires like us. They are millionaires whose other friends are billionaires and that is a totally different social class than us). They have maybe a bit of breakfast or a small lunch and then they have dinner. Unless they don't. But this whole concept of eating constantly isn't as much of a thing. And no one's hanging around accusing them of being anorexic. Also most of the white women are tall. Rich non white women aren't tall or skinny IME.

I know you mean relative to your millionaire friends, but come on! You don’t think you are wealthy?

No. In fact, the exact opposite of this. They have time to go to pure barre and play tennis.

I’m reading Primates of Park Avenue right now. Fascinating read! It’s the wealthy woman’s job to look good to keep their husbands and compete with the other women in their social set. Overweight people are outcasts. It’s just not acceptable.

Notably, they attend Soulcycle and Physique 57 barre classes. Maybe Orange Theory classes here?

Im not rich - more upper middle class btw.

Are those pre-packaged meals actually worth the price? I'm seriously considering them in order to help get this weight off.

Oh crap sorry guys, I didn't realize how old this thread was.

Obviously still relevant and fascinating to discuss! I didn’t notice date of original posting.

How wealthy are they? Where do they live?

This thread is not really talking about self-made wealthy women.

1-My dh is not attracted to fat women.
2- I can afford to buy very healthy, non-processed foods at the grocery store.
3-I have a nanny so I can go to the gym whenever I want.
4-I have the time to cook healthy foods every night.
5-I am educated, and understand the nutritional value of food.

Very telling that your first comment is your husbands preference.

I want to be attractive to my husband...don't you?

New poster here. In 10 years, your top 5 list will be very different. Also, you will not keep the weight off forever. You will be older and your husband will still be attracted to younger skinny women, educated or not.

Wrong. I am older and still the same weight as 25 yrs ago. Clean diet and weight lifting. My husband (of 25 yrs) is still chasing me.
However, I am a high earner also and have options. So that keeps the power thing level. Life is good!

I'm wealthy, not rich. I'm skinny tho so maybe I'm on my way.

The wealthy women I know are not skinny and obsessed with dropping weight.

I am thin and have many thin friends. We are middle class to upper middle class. We rent. We attend public school. We eat healthy and try to exercise. No nannys here.

But recently I've spent some time on the Beauvoir and Sidwell campuses. Holy hell! Each time I've seen several moms who look downright anorexic. Spindly arms, toothpick denim legs, gaunt faces, and usually dressed well and made-up and styled. They're skinny alright, but they look scary skinny. Like Kate Moss versus Kate Beckingsdale. I can say with certainty I'd rather look like me, enjoy my food, and feel slightly self conscious if my stomach occasionally looks less than flat in my size 4 bandage dress, than look like a malnourished preteen boy. Heroic chic is not my thing I guess?

Ok. Well then enjoy your food!

That means you don’t know people who are wealthy.

In Caucasian culture men prefer thinner women. Even moderately overweight women are not sought out regardless of money.

In other cultures, being overweight is acceptable to men.

Even blue collar Caucasian men want thinner women.

Even the word wealthy has lower class connotations. Rich people call themselves rich and are around people who don't need to find euphemisms to describe their situation.

That said, there are overweight rich people. They may not be in the in crowd or the aspirational version of rich culture. But it's not like the government raids your bank account if you're a sturdy heiress. Right Tiffany Trump?
