Or just hit the 9:30 club anytime there are "older" bands there. And I find some of the classic country shows (Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam) skew older. Plus, some of the dance nights (80's, 90's) at The Black Cat are while not full of over 50 years olds - pretty age stratified so you would feel comfortable dancing and hanging out.

This is an excellent suggestion. Also, I will posit that if older folks show up, other older folks will not feel so alienated.

I went to Clyde's on Preseve Parkway last Friday night. not sure if it's Rockville or Potomac because I am both old and not from this area.
The bar was jam packed with "oldies," some younger people, LOTS of 40ish single women and dirty old men trying to look down the shirts of said women. It was a friendly and lively crowd, I would definitely go again.
The music was difficult to hear though and no space for dancing. More of an upscale bar scene. Very attentive bartenders.
