Anyone cycling right now? IVF

Sue -- I don't think you should be all that concerned yet for two reasons.

1) You obviously had slightly late implantation based on your first HPTs being negative and then later positive, right? Where are you today in terms of days past ovulation?

2) I think most REs remain reserved until there is a heartbeat and they are ready to turn you over to an OB. For my first pregnancy, my first scan (somewhere between 5-6 weeks) showed just a sack and my doctor (Sacks at CFA) said "okay but we won't be out of the woods until your next scan where we should see a heartbeat". So, he wasn't excited but not because he thought we should see a heartbeat but just because it was too early to get excited. If that makes sense.

Thanks, that is reassuring, and I appreciate it. But we didn't even get a "we won't be out of the woods" sort of comment. It was "let's see on Monday if the embryo grows a millimeter a day." He did not seem too concerned about the lack of heartbeat so fat.

And yes, I definitely think I had a late implantation -- my husband said the same thing. I'm 28 days past ovulation. Technically, the pregnancy is six weeks exactly. The third beta was 379, and while it was definitely doubling, it was never high.

I think we were looking for something a little more definitive, in part because we feel like we've been holding our breath since our beta. Our first test was so wonky (the miscalibrated machine, me testing too early, etc) that everything has felt slightly off since then. I interpreted the doctor's cautiousness as being without any optimism. I understand they don't want to get your hopes up, but I was left with the distinct impression that things didn't look good.

So, you know, more waiting! I work all weekend, so here's hoping it'll be enough to distract me.

I'm so sorry, Sue. I know how nerve-racking this must be for you. I hope the weekend goes by quickly for you and that you're able to do things to keep your mind off the stress of it all. I'm really hoping for the very best for you.

Kay, how did your beta go? I hope those numbers are going up...and that you are avoiding those migraines.

Annie, good luck tomorrow!

Hoping everyone else is doing well! Emma

Kay here- I'm sorry Annie! That's so hard. Get some much needed rest.

Sue, how are you doing? The U/S is next week, right?

As for me, I had my second beta and it was 2008. I will have an U/s the week of the 13th to see what's going on.

We saw a heartbeat today and there was definitely growth. The gestational sac is still on the small side, about five days behind, so my RE remains concerned. All we can do is wait another week to see whether there's additional growth.

I refused to let myself get optimistic last week, but I feel a little better now. Our RE printed out the ultrasound pic for us this time, too, which I thought was a better sign.

So....cautious optimism for the next seven days!
Good luck everyone!

Good luck Sue ... hang in there! I am just staring an FET cycle ... but my last FET cycle resulted in a BFP with original beta numbers just over 1000, which then only went to 1200 before dropping back to 1000 before rising again... but never doubling as they should. Was told it was likely ectopic, was sent in for methotrexate, only to have an ultrasound that showed what "might" be a sac. A couple days later pole and sac found, but no HB, then finally a HB, but was told not to get hopes up because of continuing chance of miscarriage ... well, long and stressful story short, we will be celebrating that little fighter's 1st bday soon. Will keep sending good thoughts your way!

That is better news! Yay. When do you go in for your next U/s? I'm glad they saw a heartbeat.

As for me, I need to schedule my U/s for next week. I'm feeling okay. I am a bundle of nerves and will be until next week. I am trying to breathe, but it's not working out too well.

How is everyone else? - Kay.
