Explain the logical connection between the premise "When we die, there is no afterlife and no supreme being," to "There are no morals"?

Morals without a creator or afterlife are individual. If one persons morals include killing people who get in his way then it is equally valid to any other. Anything otherwise is the "feelings"'of a separate essentially worthless being.

Atheists that accept and embrace their status as equal to that of a worm or rock, get it. The ones with their tiresome feelings and opinions have the most hilarious and unsubstantiated religion on the planet.

An allegory for Christianity is this

You die, you go to a courtroom , God is the judge. The prosecuting attorney is seasoned.. He's a pro and very well prepared . "Your honor, here sits (you/me)... He has broken your commandments and as you know.. Breaking the commandments leads to a sentence of spiritual death and punishment. I am going to play every instance of the defendants life where he/she has broken commandments and sinned. A video screen comes up., you look at your attorney, he's filing his nails and not worried . You're like Oooh crap! After 2 years of watching each sin you have committed, the prosecutor (satan) wraps up his case with.. "And as you can see your honor , the defendent is guilty of sin beyond count and measure and as the bible says she shall surely be put to death !" And he sits down with a self satisfied look on his face. You look at your attorney and go "what are you going to do?" He says " don't worry" you say " easy for you to say .. I'm the one in jeopardy!"

Your attorney stands up and says "permission to approach the bench" God says.. "Permission granted." Your attorney walks up.. Leans into God and says in a low voice .. " Dad. This defendent knows me and loves me. I died and already paid the price for her." God says " case dismissed!" Defendent.. All is forgiven and forgotten enter the kingdom of heaven with your brothers and sisters in Me.

Wow -- I wonder if this scare tactic will work on some nervous, wavering Christians!

Actually, atheists are less than nothing since they waste resources and produce fecal matter. A rock is much cleaner and harmonious with the universe.

Speak to your god now and plead for forgiveness for your severe lack of tolerance.

It's funny. I know a lot of atheists and agnostics and none of them believe there are no morals or no reason to be good. Those two things don't require a supreme being.

Sometimes I wonder if there is someone on here who is not an atheist but who is trying to make atheists look bad.

Ha -- Sometimes I wonder the same thing about Christians! Other times I appreciate the inanities - no matter what their source - because they provide a mirror into people's thinking.

I'm an atheist and I believe there are no morals. I think atheists like to have morals so that religious people won't look down on them. But I am not burdened by that. I don't care what a bunch of freaks who believe in fairy tales think about me. There are no morals. Why would there be morals? It is ridiculous.

Pretty good deal, even if you were a complete a**hole piece of sh*t in life that made others around you miserable and caused them to suffer. Does this still work? In that case, I have been doing it all wrong. All about me from now on, just need a little time before the end of my life to profess my love for Jesus.

What is a soul?

Yes. It is a good deal. The bible says it is our blessed hope^^^

Saint Paul was a murder and the theif on the cross next to Jesus were saved instantly . Its understanding you're situation and accepting the gift which includes acknowledging you don't deserve it and showing gratitude by turning from sin as best as you can.

Also it helps to believe that what you read in a certain ancient book will have eternal effect on you.

When you judge another, you do not define them. You define yourself.

If there is no creator, is it still not true that 1+1=2? There can be objective external truths without a creator. And people will disagree about what is moral even within one region. Is doesn't t mean there isn't a truth to the matter; it means we may not be right about the truth and should be humble.

PP here. It wouldn't surprise me! And let me just say that I don't think most people of faith would try to make atheists look bad.

I think it is different to say atheists have no morals ( NOT true) vs there is little rationale for calling something 'good' and something else 'bad' in a purely naturalistic universe. In a sense, pure naturalists are good and know good (or bad) despite such terms having no rational basis in such a world view.

In the end, it all comes down to I (we) prefer this particular arrangement of molecules and not that one. Why? Just because.

I agree that you don't need a creator for a traacendent moral law to exist, much like math does for those who think that math facts are discovered and not invented. However, presupposing such a Moral Law (not fully known by anyone but existing) already puts you outside of a purely evidence-based naturalistic universe.
