Huh? I don't remember someone going to the police about Thomas. Could you refresh my memory? Was it the little blonde guy who liked Ivy? Was it the guy barrow had an affair with the first episode in season 1?

It was Alfred. He felt he "morally" couldn't stay quiet since it was a sin (and maybe also at the goading of O'Brien?). This after he walked in on Thomas trying to get into bed with Jimmy (blonde guy) when he was asleep.

Which, btw, I thought Jimmy had an unrealistic reaction (after his initial shock). He was sort of, whatever. But I think there's a big difference between someone coming on to you, and you waking up with someone over you and pawing you. Combine that with the norms of the time, and I think Jimmy would be permanently put off by Thomas, or at least take a few conversations to get over. And also, that story line sort of fell away; if Thomas had a crush on Jimmy, you'd never know it now. Which is unrealistic because it's very hard/impossible to get over someone when they are under your nose (see Daisy and Alfred for an example of that)

I agree that Jimmy would still be a little more freaked out. In those times, a homosexual would have been seen as a pervert, unable to controll him/herself, and waiting in the wings to rape you. They should have played it off that Thomas claimed he thought he was crawling into bed with one of the maids and made a mistake.

It is so annoying that Daisy is so crazy about Alfred. But if Alfred only knew she could look like this!

Not sure who that is, but it's not the actress who plays Daisy.

Now we're talking! What a cutie.

Daisy always annoys me on DA; her mouth is constantly open and she just looks so 'simple'.

It's been awhile since that scene, but if I recall correctly, I think Alfred wanted Jimmy gone as they were vying for Ivy's affections. He saw a chance to have Jimmy fired and he took it.

No wrong actress, someone named Daisy Lowe.

To see Sophie McShera, who plays Daisy on Downton, see http://www.curtisbrown.co.uk/sophie-mcshera/images/

I've often wondered, what happened when the servants married and had babies? Specifically, I'm wondering if Anna and Bates will have children and if so, who will take care of them?

yes, because I think he thought, or tried to play off that he thought, he caught Jimmy & Thomas together.
