SIL refuses to use MIL's "grandma" name

When my first nephew was born, my mom and her friends got together to come upwith a name. They came up with Bubu ( it makes sense in Spanish). My father decided to go by just his first name, period. Nephew was a baby, he was taken care by my mom. He could say a few words, mom, dad, baba (the dog) but he would not say Bubu, although developmentally he could have been able to do so.
One morning, my mom looks at him and ask him why he was not saying Bubu. And he look at her and called her by her first name directly. And that was it. He apparently did not like the made up name, he wanted to call her by her first name. And now all the other children call my parents by their first name. |

| if cousins are around each other the oldest grandchild chooses the grandma/grandpa names and the rest go along. this happens by magic. grandparenting is magical. relax and enjoy. |
