Regular mixed race crowd. Nothing incredibly beautiful.... OP, you realize the people on tv wear contacts and straighten their hair right??? |
|
Look I think this line of thinking is kind of creepy because the whole idea of "race" is creepy in many ways. Obviously race as a cultural construct is a real thing; people are viewed and treated and grouped based on outward appearance and skin color is a big part of that. And when people are forced by culture or circumstance to live among people who resemble themselves in certain outward ways (skin color) a subculture often develops due to that.
BUT race as a biological thing is basically made up. We all differ from one another in relatively insignificant ways biologically. Two "white" people aren't racially "pure." We are all mutts. And if some of us resemble one another slightly more closely because we come from the same place and have for many generations (like because our families lived on an island, or because we were forced to live together because of the color of our skin etc...) our similarities genetically are still not that much greater than our genetic similarities to any other human. Beautiful people come in all shapes and sizes and provenances. Come on people...we are all "mixed." Even if your family all comes from the same place for many generations you are a mix of all of them. Some people's parents resemble one another more than others...but we are all a mix of the people who came before us. Just take people for who they are instead of making these weird sweeping generalizations that make "mixed race" people seem like some exotic "other." They are just people who are a mix of the people who came before them like all of us. We are all just people! |
No, that's her natural eye color. |
| I'm just going to come out and say it..... Most people in general are homely. That's fact... White, black, Asian, mixed... In the end people usually find things familiar to them more attractive... And people have their preferences but personally attractiveness trumps "race" every time. |

I disagree. I know sooooo many average looking biracial people.
You can't post celebrities as examples because most of them have on pounds of make up, surgery, etc and plus celebs usually look better than most of the regular population. But no mixed does equal cute. Google Rain Pryor if you don't believe me. |
| Like several PPs have already noted, not all biracial people are necessarily viewed (in general as) attractive, just like how not all 'non-mixed' people are viewed in general as attractive. The OP took examples of celebrities/models as examples, so it is no wonder that they would be individuals paying more attention to their looks, and/or being judged for them. |

OK, we have a consensus, OP's broad generalization was offensive, and embodies a bunch of pernicious, unexamined societal biases.
I feel like now we're piling on. In fairness to OP, who may be misguided but I don't think is mean-spirited, I think we should at least recognize that Thandie Newton is in fact undeniably hot. |

On the other hand, there's this guy.

OP... this is gonna sound crazy, but:
I'm biracial black and white. I have olive skin (which tans fabulously), green eyes, dark hair, and very well balanced features. My hair is the best of both worlds: full, and curly, or it straightens out perfectly. But: in the winter, my skin looks dull and pasty, I have what is called "hyperpigmentation" on my cheeks (skin discoloration), and big pores. That being said, I look quite average (with the exception of my eyes). But when I put on make-up and get dressed up, I look great. I'm not trying to be conceited, but I turn heads. I recently had a woman (straight, and I am too) that said I was the most beautiful person she'd ever seen face to face. It doesn't go to my head though, because it DOES NOT HAPPEN unless I have on full make-up and nice clothes. So, there is truth to the make up theory: it does work wonders. But do I look as striking as OP's description? Only with a face full of make up. |
| Why is biracial always black mixed there are a lot of others |
| I am a white hispanic mix- when younger was stopped a lot asking (by women and men) where I was from and how they thought I was unusual but pretty (uncomfortable comments for me since when it happened it was kinda a long comment). Alas, beauty fades/older and I don't get this that much if at all- but anyway- just sharing.. |

Sure there are, but OP is speaking specifically about black and white mixing, and how the person looks. |

OP here:
I love Thandie Newton with her naturally curly hair. I love her natural hair texture. She is such a gorgeous woman. |
