hey, who took a dump in your cereal? Yes I *often* wonder and the "wondering" takes 10 seconds per instance. And no, I won't enjoy thinking about arts and clouds more because I don't really like art and clouds? m'eh, only two shades, kinda boring. Rainbows though, are cool and I like thinking about them. Food on the other hand? I think about food all the time and I enjoy doing that, right along with wondering what it's like to have 2 or more gay members of your immediate family. |

Well, since we're confessing our deep seated prejudices, I'm a lesbian and....
I think SAHMs are living half a life and after about 10 minutes at home, their brains start to decay till they literally become as intelligent and interesting as their infants. I think WOHMs who hire and proceed to micromanage their nannys should never have had children to begin with. Those are little people, lady, not fashion accessories. I think anyone who pays $1M for a house and anything at all for education before college is a pretentious moron. I think $1,500 double strollers are a sign of the apocalypse. I think those yoga pants make your ass look HUGE. I'm sorry, I think I got off the subject.... what were you saying about me again? |
PP here. Not all homosexuals fit into the stereotypes - you realize that, right? And there are effeminate straight men? Masculine gay men? Many homosexuals say that they realized they were different at a young age. There are also girls kissing boys and being "girlfriend and boyfriend" on elementary school playgrounds. Big deal? Why does this surprise you? |
Wow, I guess that everyone else I know with a gay family member is in that 1% too. DH has two gay cousins. Their family knew that they were both gay from a young age as well. My Mom had a cousin and it was the same thing. Even my friends with gay/lesbian family members knew there was something different when they were younger. So we are all in the 1%. I am wondering where that 10-15% are. I saw a documentary a while ago on gay man who was choosing to be straight. He went to the church for help. THey showed him with his family and they told him how proud they were of him for choosing the right path and asked when he was going to find a girlfriend. He said "I don't know. I think I may choose to be single forever". He will never be straight. You could see the sadness in his eyes. You could see he was only choosing to be straight because it was the only way he could get acknowledged by his family. If it truly was a choice, he would have had no problem being with a woman. He couldn't do it. He was simply not attracted to them. It's not a choice. |

Yes, and there's still homophobia in the black community. Obvs. |
+1000. OP, you're a douchebag. |
Why would the Black Gay Pride Association be homophobic? |
I agree. The fight for gay rights is a fight for civil rights, but it's not the American Civil Rights Movement and to equate the two does an injustice to both. I agree that in 100 years, society will think it was absurd to ban gay marriage. It is. But it simply does not compare to lynching, being a piece of property, being defined as 3/5 of a person, mass killings in towns, an average of one person per day being murdered in a town during the Nadir of US race relations, schools being burned down, churches being bombed- and all this either written ino the law of the nation or condoned by way of indifference or even encouragement. They do not compare, so let's not try to. Horrible things have happened because of racism. Horrible things have happened because of homophobia. Let's do them justice by treating them as separate issues. |
+1 - great post!! |
There is homophobia in every community. Is it a stereotype of the black community? Possibly but there are Black people who are gay and have support groups dedicated to being Black and Gay. Aren't there groups for other minorities in the area of LGTB? Even coming from a black person would make it a statement on a stereotype which is true for some but I am not sure that every Black person is homophobic. |

Don't like that I'm a lesbian? Oh well, do whatever works for you. And, I will not pretend that I don't think your feelings are based on fear, bigotry and misinformation.
The only time I get pissed is when people want to pass laws that harm my family. |
This. These should be separate issues, it is unfair to both groups to combine these. |
I agree that they are separate issues, but they are related. Racism and homophobia come from the same root cause: fear/hatred of people who are different than you. It's important to understand where these kinds of issues come from so that they can be fought. |
