I would make her work (like pull weeds, assist with unloading the dishwasher, laundry, vacuum the house) to understand the value of money. My son's friends, both 7 by the way, also have stolen money from my son. I really dislike spanking. It is really not a good way to discipline children. There have been many studies supporting the negative outcomes of children who were spanked.

(I was spanked as a kid but would never spank my child. I also find it interesting that the boys who stole money from my son are spanked at home.)
