just wow. *head explodes* |
Every single one of you who is taking the side of this mother who left her kids in car with engine running, even though she had a baby monitor and a clear line of vision to see them, would have had a shit fit if your nanny did this. How many of you would have approached her and talked to her, you would have fired her on the spot. You know you would and so do the rest of us. What a bunch of hypocrites. This woman should have been reported and cops should have taken children and put them with foster care until this idiot woman learned how dangerous it is to leave children alone in a car, with or without the engine running. She should either hire a babysitter for the twins, take other kid out of dance class or take twins into studio with her. There is no excuse for this kind of negligence. |
EXACTLY! |
You are nuts! Put the kids in foster care? I hope you don't have kids of your own. They will fear their own shadows growing up in your home. What exactly do you think is so dangerous about this particular situation? She can see her car, it cannot be stolen/ driven off with her children inside because she is holding the keys. She can hear her children if they were to awaken. There is no chance of carbon monoxide poisoning as the car is parked outdoors. It's climate controlled so they won't freeze or overheat inside the car. Maybe it's not something you or I would choose to do, but to suggest that the cops should have taken her children from her seems alarmist to me and a huge overreaction. |
What exactly do you think is so dangerous about this particular situation?
Seriously??? Seriously??? You NEVER leave little children in a car unattended with the engine running. Period. DOT. |
Please enlighten me. If it is a hybrid the engine will not "run" the entire time, the battery will kick in. Is it overheating you fear, or car thieves? She can see the car and hear what goes on in the car. Is that "unattended"? Look, I'm not saying this a practice we should all adopt but it's crazy to suggest her kids be removed from her care. The ideal response to this situation from the concerned mothers is an offer to help. |
This is not true. You can, and a few years ago, a man died of carbon monoxide posioning in a car with engine running and car was outside. All it takes is one person to break window, hop in car and drive away and she can't move fast enough to stop this, unless she has her eyes glued upon chldren in car, which she wouldn't because she is watching daughter dance. It is criminal negligence, in my opinion, to endanger the lives of these children. |
The person could not break the window without setting off the car alarm, and he could not drive away without the keys.
As to the monoxide poisoning, it's not exactly a widespread danger for cars parked outside, single case notwithstanding. |
NP here. I agree with this. Instead of getting to know the lady, or even offering to help (wow, what a concept!!), you want to have her kids taken away by CPS? OP, you sound like a miserable, mean-spirited person. This lady has 3 kids. It's tough being a mom, even if you just have one kid. Show the other mom some empathy instead of trying to have her life ruined. |
Damn. You got me. I wouldn't do what she's doing, but I seriously don't believe her children are in any immediate danger. They're within her line of sight, she has her monitor, and the doors are locked. Definitely not an ideal setup, but I wouldn't call the cops over this. |
I would not have called the cops on her, but I probably would have mentioned it to her and told her that I heard some other people talking about calling the cops. |
The car is running so the keys are already there. The car could be stolen in seconds and nobody could do a thing about it. Do you really not understand how dangerous this is?! |
It's locked and running. So she clearly has the keys with her, or has an extra set. I don't agree with what she's doing, but a carjacking is very unlikely. People take risks everyday. You risk your child's life when you drive them to dance class. And the risk of getting into a car accident is far greater than some weirdo stealing a car with kids in it. To me, it's just not worth calling the cops over. The mother can see the car and she has her monitor. Not something that I would do, but not anything I would freak out about. |
One quick question: How many of you would be ok with this if it was your nanny who did this? |
Nobody is saying that they would do this. So I'm sure a lot of people would be very upset if their nanny did this. I wouldn't be happy, that's for sure. But I don't have a nanny. |
