Because a locked car door will deter a thief. Ha! Where do you live? Apparently not in this area |
I will have you know that I live in Silver Spring. Ha! Yeah so I win! |
Ever heard of carbon monoxide poisoning? This occurs when the engine is running and windows closed and it can occur even if the exhaust pipe is open. Good for your friend and the cops who investigated and said it was all right should be fired because it isn't all right. I would call CPS if it happens again, and I might even call them, give tag no, and address of dance studio. |
I think she should just sit in the car with the sleeping babies. No need for her to go inside & watch the class! |
OP I understand your angst and frustration. I once saw a parent get off his bicycle at the door of my child's daycare center with his infant strapped to his chest in a Bjorn. I was sitting in the car nursing my newborn and I was just stupefied at how dangerous that was. The dad evidently did this on a daily basis - I could only imagine what would happen to that baby if the dad hit a pothole and fell off the bike or was hit by a car. I told the daycare administrators who said they would mention safety issues to him, but who knows if they did, and he clearly didn't listen. I think in these situations there is only so much you can do. That doesn't make it any less shocking or frustrating, however. |
My car was stolen while I was standing on the sidewalk next to it with my 2 year old. Now I won't even leave any child in a car even while I walk to someone's door for 10 seconds with the doors locked, running or not, with the car in full view less than 10 feet from me. It's a pain, of course, but once you have that scare, you'll never forget it.
This lady is nuts and I hope someone finally manages to make her see what a huge mistake she's making. |
Yes. I've heard of carbon monoxide poisoning. Have you ever heard of it? Didn't think so. |
The 'area' encompasses dc, va, AND md. Duh. So are you saying silver spring, md is immune from car thieves? Yeah you 'win' and good luck when your car is stolen. |
Really? Damn, I had no clue that Silver Spring was part of the "area". My sincere apologies. I mean, I've lived here for ten years, and I've just never ventured out of town. And yes, I'm saying Silver Spring is immune to car thieves. A car has NEVER been stolen in Silver Spring. Ever. So yeah. I super win all the way to bank, biatch! |
Would you be willing to print out information on carbon m. poisoning in cars and put it on her windshield, OP? |
Now that's just fucking obnoxious. |
Yes, she can see the car from the studio, although she doesn't spend all her time looking at the car (she is often watching the class). I didn't call the police, my friend did and I didn't know she'd done it. We have both been feeling kind of anxious about her doing this. I had hoped by saying something to the studio she'd stop, which she did, but not for very long. I guess I should just ignore it because nothing will probably happen and if it does...well, they aren't my children. |
Why? She's doing something that is dangerous but that a lot of people don't know is dangerous. You don't think she'd prefer the paper on her windshield to a second visit from the cops? |
How many times do people sit in running cars in traffic? And how many of those people die from carbon monoxide poisoning by just sitting there in a running car? |
I'm guessing not that many die because they get out of the car when they start to feel faint and throw up. So no problem, the babies will just get out of the car too. |
