What's a lie is that DCPS loses millions for kids during the year. DCPS budgets are built for more kids than ever come. Also, how come no one ever wants to talk about (or count) the kids who are kicked out of their out of boundary DCPS schools and sent back to their assigned neighborhood school without any transfer of budget? The charter amount isn't just $900 and you know it. First, charters got $650 or more per student when teacher pay was put into grants instead of through the per pupil. The 2.55% increase for this year is only $385 per student and has to cover all increased costs -- utilities, leases, benefits, salaries, etc. So the money charters will get this year is short of the money needed for teachers -- money that was promised to go through the per pupil starting this year. Funny how everyone pretends to care so much about teachers but I guess it's only if they work in DCPS. More than funny, is how all of the sitting councilmembers including JLG seem to be pretending that they didn't vote for the teacher pay grants with commitments that these should be per pupil funds and act like they've completely forgotten about it now. Then there is the money that was taken off the top for utilities, telecomm and transportation but only for DCPS. That's at $1,000 per students. There's a list of things that are similar. I'm not arguing for the 10K but to suggest $900 is laughable. |
Well, the question is what counts as a day of instruction. Schools can be in session for only a few hours and it will be considered a full school day, which is BS. |
Yes, it’s so pathetic. I guess it’s not just Trumpies who don’t do any research. |
