This is not true for all the kids. It's just excessive and over the top. Where does it stop? |
Dont you think this is a bit patronizing? I believe first Gen families are capable of more |
Sure, fair point. And next, do you want to take down the concept of a quinceañera? Just...let it go, guys. |
What makes you think this is an immigrant/first gen specific trend? Seems more like tacky Southerners. |
|
No this is the type of overconsumption we try to avoid at all costs. She got a pennant (the school sent her) and a flag, a couple of stickers and t-shirts, sweatshirts etc.
What do you do with all that stuff? |
Goes straight into a landfill. Why, people, why? I’m sure these are the same people who apply to like 30 schools and brag about all the scholarship money. The point is to go to college and get an education. What ever happened to humility and hard work? |
As a first gen student coming from a community with a lot of first gen students, the people on this thread suggesting this is a first gen thing are being pretty classist. Talk about tacky. |
| I mean if you do this for an Ivy, you are probably going to find out that you don’t really fit in. |
| These look like AI |
Google the school name and bed party — there are plenty for each Ivy |
| It’s definitely an Instagram trend for well off families. And heck no- we did not do this. It’s so strange. |
| The most I'll do is buy a few hoodies and a pair of school socks. |
+1 |
Wait until that Vandy girl gets to Nashville and figure out that only tourists and those on stage wear cowboy hats. It's not Texas FFS. |
|
Nope
And haven’t heard of any in DMV It’s popular in NYC |
