PWC Girls regional games were pushed back to Last night so that ECNL players could participate, it was a heavy lift for those players playing 4 games in 4 days (3 at NC showcase) and then 1 High School regional game, but seemed to work much better than making the girls choose.

Because ECNL dangles carrots of colleges at their NC Showcase - sat - mon. Madison's GK plays for Bethesda and chose to go NC versus play in their regional final. Little do they know NO ONE show up on the third day of any showcase. But maybe she's close to her recruitment window and felt the pressure to play half a game on Monday at 3pm. They would have beaten Yorktown if they had their keeper. But kudos to the field player who did her best. ECNL steals joy and replaces hope with travel expenses.

Same thing happened to the Herndon boys. Their keeper was at an MLS Next showcase and they lost.

That sucks. High school tournaments used to be the biggest thing a teenager could hope to participate in. Now they are letting their teammates down by bailing.

So the player should have let his club teammates down and sacrifice his own college recruiting instead? Or would you rather he didn’t play HS at all, which is a big reason why the high school team made it to their tournament position in the first place. His high school teammates understand and are grateful he played when he could.

A hypothetical situation where a starting GK bailed on his high school team for a tournament game, leading to knocking them out of the tournament. Sorry, there is NO WAY his teammates are "grateful he played when he could". What nonsense. They are pissed at him for letting their team down for his own selfish reasons and I hope the coach considers that when choosing the team next year.

A player with raw talent will always find a spot on a team.

They were cut at tryouts for a reason: they simply weren't good enough for the team.

I wonder if the ECNL showcase had an affect on the regionals. Which were good games.

But hat tip to the State Champs Indy Soccer (again).

Yorktown put up a heck of a fight.

Proud of those girls.

High School soccer basically comes down to how many ECNL/GA players do you have and generally the team with the higher number of these players wins. In terms of the showcase effecting regionals, maybe. Some girls played 3 full games in NC every minute of 3 games. Know of some who are on team with 20 rostered so played a little over half those minutes, and others who skipped last game. So managing your minutes matters if you have any control over it, but at the end of the day at least everyone got to play in their HS game. Congrats to Indy and all other state winners.

Colgan plays in weak district. Got smoked 3-0 first round in regionals to a third seed from other district.

I think the point was that there are plenty of people willing to take the spot, but also, a lot of coaches look at size and speed because they don't know anything else.

Lot of talk on here about Battlefield, Robinson, Colgan, Lake Braddock, but I told you all back on page 5 it would be Indy…Won 5A last year and, despite having a weaker team this year, had plenty of firepower to get it done in 6A.

Sure with Yorktown missing 3 starters. And they skirted by with an overtime win in regionals, and lost in regional final. WISE ONE told us. LOL High School soccer any of the teams you mentioned and a handful of others can win on any night. Keep dreaming that they are way better.
