If everyone stopped consuming meat today, what would happen to all of the chickens, turkeys, pigs, cattle, and other animals that are currently raised and slaughtered for food? Farmers and ranchers couldn’t afford to keep feeding and caring for them. Lots of people would lose their jobs — not just farmers and ranchers, but everyone involved in the meat supply chain. Are there currently enough plant based proteins in distribution for everyone to make the change simultaneously? We’d need to phase meat consumption out slowly.
I’m not sure there’s any ethical justification for our continued heavy consumption of meat, but eating meat definitely played a significant role in human evolution and our corresponding increase in brain size, so once upon a time, it was very beneficial and therefore, we evolved eating meat. As a diabetic, I appreciate meat as a low carb food option. |

1. I am not convinced that a vegan diet full of highly processed, packaged, and/or imported from other parts of the world and bought at Whole Foods is nutritionally or environmentally more sound than a normal omnivore diet. The meat I buy is produced locally and is minimally processed. Some of the vegans I know eat so much super processed garbage. Plus there are some things (B vitamins?) you can’t even get in normal foods so they have to supplement.
2. My kids enjoy and thrive on meat. We are a multicultural family and we cook everything, bibimbap to barbacoa! I have cooked real foods for them since they were little and they eat all sorts of dishes and vegetables, meat, and full-fat dairy. They are teens now and healthy, lean, athletic, and unmedicated and I don’t think it’s just a coincidence. Kids need animal foods and satiating fats. 3. You don’t need to eat lots of meat to get the benefits of meat. You also don’t need fancy cuts. Learn to cook. So many people spending money on processed garbage and restaurants would be healthier and richer if they learned to cook. |

Factory farming and slaughterhouses are an issue but if you go farm to table,
Meat has its benefits |
| It’s not political. It’s a choice. Enjoy your veggies. |
Ding ding ding we've got a winner. I'm an omnivoritarian. I feel strongly about eating high quality vegetables and meats. Like both at the same time on my pizza! I literally hate the vegetarian/meat debate. I hate having to choose, between the meat lovers and the vegetarian pizzas at literally every pizza place. |
| A vegan diet isn't necessarily more ethical than a carnivore diet. Stop deceiving yourselves. |
You weigh 362.5 pounds??? .36 g per pound of body weight, possibly more (but research is not conclusive) for people over 70 Easy to do with grain and beans. You do not have to eat 20 pounds of broccoli. |

Does "someone" include the mouse in your kitchen, the fruit flies when you let the bananas and peaches go bad? Is it ok to kill them?
Plants have been found to have a form of memory and communicate with each other as well as with other organisms through chemical signals. How do you know they do not have some form of consciousness? Is it more unethical to eat a pig than a chicken (considering a chicken has been known to survive well over a year with its head cut off, and even then didn't die from having its head cut off)? How about octopus (which has neurons in its arms)? Where do chocolate covered ants come into this picture? |
Shame on you! You sound like MAGA. |
I had a hamburger tonight and it was delicious. |
Plants suffer more than animals do, yet I don't understand why the ethical watchdogs aren't more upset about it. |
Lol, the "ethical watchdogs" are ok with Trump and Bidens being POTUS of the most powerful country in the world but they're concerned with people eating meat and plants??? Make this make sense. Too many idiots in this world. |
| In order for us to live, something else must die. |
I don’t justify meat. I cook it, chew it, and savor it. How do you justify exhaling when your secular church says CO2 is an emergency? You don’t justify it. You inhale, exhale, and repeat. |
I'm part of "the left" and I hunt and I'm far from the only one. Maybe you need to actually spend some time with "the left", lil buddy. |
