So if the regular teams practices were canceled why do they have everyone crowded on to one field at Bready? |
Herndon made the same decision 5 years ago. They decided they were going to manage in-house and hire an ED instead of subbing out to Total Futbol. 5 years later, the ED is gone, Herndon’s girls program has been a mess and is going through its 3rd or 4th “re-boot”. And now, as a club, they are joining FVU as an afterthought, like LMVSC and Villarreal. Bottom line, kicking experienced soccer people out of a soccer club doesn’t seem like a good plan in an “industry” where it is very important to understand where the “market” is headed. |
It doesn’t matter how good of a “coach” or “connection” you are, you can’t go into a club and steal money. Get paid for things you aren’t doing. Many coaches who know NM will tell you he’s shady… there’s a reason RS and ML and NM are all gone… lots of $$$ going back and forth for that leadership team |
I agree it doesnt make sense. My son is a 2010 and they have four teams of kids plus whoever is trying out scheduled at the same time as 2011 boys and girls-they have three teams...so 7 full sized teams plus tryer outers on ONE Field??? We were not told that our regular practices were canceled though. |
Do we have confirmation thats what happened? |
Check your messages, Lee sent out a message on April 4th
Important TRYOUT Updates All team practices will be cancelled during tryout week to allow full focus on the tryout process. Playmetrics calendars will be updated later today to reflect this change. Our 2025–26 Coaching Slate will be released Monday, just ahead of the first tryout sessions |
They already know where their current players are being rostered so they are really only watching anyone new who shows up but I can't imagine how they can watch anyone with so many kids on the field. Thats why I thought it was just an ID session for new kids. |
This is dumb. All the other turf fields will be sitting totally empty and they are cramming everyone into one field. |
But when you have 10 coaches and you need 15 or more. This way all coaches will stand in the center circle and act like they’re paying attention |
With 200 teenagers on one field...there won't be any room for them. Good luck trying to drop your kid off or parking. |
Is it not the usual situation at Herndon for teams to stay with their same coach when they move up? My dc has had the same coach for swveral years. |
You’re giving Herndon too much credit. There won’t be 200 players at any of their tryouts. |
Every director/coach in this area has been accused of being shady. Given my knowledge of the GFR Board, I don’t think they have even a basic understanding of what a travel soccer leadership team should be focused on. NM shows up with a handful of coaches and makes it look really easy to hire a DOC and a handful of coaches…it looks like no effort at all, until you have to go out as a Board and hire a DOC and a handful of coaches. |
There might be more kids registering this weekend after the GFR changes. Good timing for Herndon. |
7 teams at one time. 20 players per team= 140 returning players plus boys and girls for two different years trying out....that's a lot of kids. Even if only a few new players show. |
