Honestly don’t know what to say to my Trumper parents; brother likely losing job

What if harris had won, your brother worked in oil and gas, and he got laid off because of green policies.

Would you also cut off people who voted for harris?

Serious question. Plenty of Americans would have no problem with everyone who works for Exxon losing their job. Or an arms manufacturer. Elections have consequences and so do different economic policies and priorities.

OP here. Thank you. I am lucky to have him, and his amazing boyfriend. They are two of the best people I know.

There would have been clean energy jobs, you didn’t listen. Your panties are in a twist because of a dozen college athletes and your deep need to say the n word. You voted to destroy the country. Are you a billionaire? If not, your time will come and sooner than you think. Dark MAGA will enslave you too.

I don't know why Republicans think anyone is celebrating mass layoffs.

A few college athletes? What is your line in the sand? How many women groped and assaulted by mentally ill men is okay? If it's just a few high school students, a few dozen female inmates, then it doesn't matter, right? How many men taking women jobs, making fun of us with their hair, and nails, and make up, claiming to be oppressed like women? Seriously, where is your line? My DD did play a stick sport with a high school boy (identifying as a boy) and half the team parents' pulled their daughters because of how many were getting injured. So how many female sports injuries is allowed before it does matter? Ten, a hundred, a thousand? Or will you just never care, because trans rights over women's rights?

+1. And I’d add that essential government services like disaster response, food safety inspection, and tracking/prosecuting international criminal syndicates will also suffer. I have many long standing R friends in fed service who are so depressed about the destruction of services for the American people.

Yep. I bet Trump voters will change their tune when they need FEMA. Or their household help can now charge a fair wage because there is less competition or food prices skyrocket because migrant workers have been ousted. Americans don't want the low paying jobs which and immigrants fill the vacuum.

Yeah, the internet was full of tantrums last year from people in southern states that they weren’t given ENOUGH money or resources by FEMA after storms/floods as they personally felt they deserved. Good luck with the next hurricane, Earlene. You’re on your own.

OP here. I have confronted them. My dad and I have had two big fights over it. But honestly I don’t want our family to be divided in part because I know that is what Donald Trump and MAGA *want.* I know they want us to stop talking, understanding, caring for and respecting each other. I’ve made the case many times that this is not about Democrat vs. Republican, that this is about Trump/MAGA, which I consider to be a different entity from the Republican Party. But anyway, we’ve fought, and it doesn’t feel good. It doesn’t fix anything. It doesn’t make either of us change our minds.

I don’t want to fight more, especially since my aunt—my Dad’s only sibling—died very recently, and I know that life is very short. But he and my mom know I’m angry and hold them accountable. I just don’t want all this to take over the limited time we have left.

Trump and the MAGAs don't care about you or your parents. They just care about making themselves richers and the poor poorer.

Trumpers are dead to me. That would absolutely include my parents, if they were alive.

You're not holding your parents accountable if you continue to interact with them.

The hilarious (?) thing is that so many of them *are* “The Poors.” My friend’s SIL and BIL live in a broken down trailer. They’re on Medicare. One is not white. One has lost most of their visible teeth. They have chronic illnesses. They get food stamps. One guess who they (loudly and proudly) voted for?

The problem with MAGA poors is they don’t want to do better for themselves. No, they want to bring others down to their level.
