I just really don’t think the national parks closing is the biggest problem we have right now. |
I agree. I mean it stinks for the park employees but it’s kind of crazy that people are stressing about this of all things. |
Funny. I needed that. |
It a very visible symptom of other issues. Our tax dollars pay for the national parks and access for all Americans. It's one of the most American things, free or nearly free access to nature's splendor. Those workers are also parts of small communities where park access and tourism drives those economies still be a big hit there too. |
Well, believe it or not some of us can carry more than one thought in our heads. I'm quite aware that this is not the most important issue, but I believe it is helpful to make the daily human impacts of this assault on government visible to people in all the ways it can be made visible. |
+1. |
Sure, cool story, bro |
May not be the most pressing prob but it's def part of the prob. National parks is about earth - nature - we should value and be ever grateful for what we have. I say this as a city girl.
The fact it's going to be disgusting and without proper care and maintenance is beyond sad. We should all have some pride in how beautiful our natural scenery is. The fact that it's gonna be a mess at best and pretty much disgusting at worst - there's gonna be hell to pay on some level. |
This might be a straw that breaks the camel’s back because it ruins regular people’s vacations and increases the federal budget deficit, by reducing park revenue. It’s just plain idiotic. |
Six Flags Yellowstone National Park
That’s where we’re headed, folks. Even as a shareholder I can’t get behind that. |
Visit the state parks of blue states while this all plays out. Colorado has breathtaking ones. |
lol tell me you’ve never been to Yellowstone without telling me you’ve never been to Yellowstone. If you think they can build a theme park on that land with all of its geothermal activity, lol. The land has no other uses than to BE a national park. |
Funny enough its the one thing both sides have always agreed to underfund. |
The US will NOT be a place where international tourists will want to visit for the next 4 years. |
NPS has long outsourced things like maintenance and construction. Given that Musk wants to take Congress and Federal employees out of the equation and use AI and number crunching 19 year olds, there's no limit to how shitty this could get. |
