Too bad you are not getting the option. The contractors are going to get slaughtered. Good luck.

we just got a msg from acting secretary saying it's real and the department will honor it. unlike previous emails, this was written in language we understand. feels much more real than before

Saying it and actually taking it are two different things.

How do you even know whether this is the secretary writing and sending the email? Don’t believe all that you read. Wake up.

Of course you're going to take the deferred resignation. It's 8 months of pay for doing nothing, and at the end of it, it's doubtful that you'll have difficulty finding a new job.

I think lots of the folks on here are very senior and/or in specialized roles where it makes no sense to take the deferred resignation. But try to put yourselves in the shoes of younger people in less specialized areas.

There is no legal guarantee that you will be paid. No congressionally funded budget for it. Imagine a 25 year old paralegal taking this deal only to realize they are unemployed, without severance and now required to work according to the email but not be paid.

Better and safer to ignore this nonsense.

The new acting apointee?
Ask a lawyer first. I would say an IG but those seem to be in short supply.

I am comfortable with my own assessment of it. But I understand where you are coming from.

Well if I was work a second full time job and afraid they will catch me and fire for cause I would take it.

If I moved to Florida in 2020 and have been pretending to work in DC for five years I may take it.

If I am low level mom who has young kids no childcare and milking it I may take it.

If I moved to exurbs way way out and dont feel like commuting in each day and can get a higher paying job may take.

People may have reasons

I saw this on reddit. It reads like those forced emails they make the agencies send, similar to the one about reporting DEI activities.

If this administration is going to make people work without paying them, why would that only happen to people who did the deferred resignation?

I was hired for 100% remote position and unless my agency assures me that I will continue working remote (slim chance) I am taking the offer. I never worked 5x a week in person, except for very briefly after college. Plenty of hybrid options out there.

Not scammed by this troll anymore than I am falling for the Nigerian prince. No one is buying what you’re selling.
