Except the kids being opted out are the ones that need to know it’s ok and normal to be gay or be part of a gay family.

You know what my kids conversations are on this very issue, they don't care that you're gay, they don't care who you kiss, they don't want to talk about it because they don't want to talk about sex stuff. It's really that simple for kids, you just don't get it. Why are we overcomplicating kids, if they don't want to be part of it I'm sure they have genuine feelings why that is, and their feelings matter just as much as the LGBT kids' feelings matter.

Acknowledging the EXISTENCE of gay people is NOT THE SAME as talking about sex. What in the actual f@ck is wrong with you people? Do you think about sex every time a heterosexual couple is mentioned in a book? Every time a coworker mentions their spouse? You're absolutely obsessed with sex, while at the same time being terrified of it. It's mind boggling.
Who isn't aware? There's a month dedicated to it. TikTok, Insta, FB, commercials, books, tv, movies, the list goes on. Let's move on together please, thank you.

2 months for LGBT and 1 month for trans

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LGBTQ_awareness_periods

plus lots of weeks and days

I'm not sure of any other non-religous group that has that many days.

What exactly is an LBGTQ book?

One that casually mentions teacher Ms. Smith has a wife? Fine whatever.

One that teaches 7 years they can choose to be a boy or girl or neither? No way I am keeping my kid in that school.

Agree. My young elementary child was read Being You: A first conversation about gender by the teacher, to the whole class- with no mention of it to the parents. It basically tells children they can pick their gender, be both, or neither or chance anytime, and then goes into talking about patriarchy. WTF. Seriously, this is totally inappropriate

Liberals are sick. They are pushing transgender indoctrination onto elementary school children. My guess is that the sex change surgeries and medications must be a lucrative business. So, they are launching the campaign to turn children trans when they are young and impressionable. Gender is biological! It is impossible to change your gender, just like it’s impossible to change your race. Transgender ideology is sick. I’m sick of mentally ill men trying to force their way into our spaces.

I’m so perplexed by the idea that librarians and school teachers should be made to teach anyone’s religion. Why do parents want to farm out religious instruction?

Thanks for sharing the disturbing link.
Young children don't deal well with uncertainty. This is not a good idea for young kids. My son had a friend who thought he was Zorro. His mom did not go change his name on his birth certificate.
One day a toddler is obsessed with dinosaurs and the next day may turn to an obsession with Spiderman. This book is planting seeds of confusion.
I used to watch "I am Jazz." I really wanted to try to understand. As a young child, it "seemed" okay. She/he turned into an extremely depressed young woman with a lot of physical and emotional pain. Surgery was painful and not successful. How anyone could think this is a good idea.

If an adult wants to make this choice, that is one thing. Children? NO!

Hope the Dems keep doubling down on this losing strategy of indoctrination.

I am a Democrat and agree I would not want my kid being taught that you can change your gender in school at any age since kids are impressionable and teens especially are trying to figure out who they are and normally try on many different "identities." I believe in kindness and respect and do not want any person discriminated against or bullied so I do think it is ok to teach kindness and respect but not this.

The whole asking for your pronoun thing has to go as well since again it is placing ideas in kid's heads. Now if someone tells me they are specific pronouns of course I will try to honor them but don't bash me if I accidentally call them what they appear as. In regards to bathrooms I am not worried unless someone who looks like a burly man tries to use the ladies restroom. Locker rooms should always have private dressing and shower stalls since locker rooms historically have been areas were kids were bullied. Trans people should not be on competitive sports teams of the opposite sex. And again I believe in kindness but also fairness. And we need to knock it off by saying "assigned at birth" or "cis-gender" or "pregnant people" and other similar stuff. This is not going to win folks over to Democratic side. Teach kindness instead.

I also worry that transgender medicine is misguided as a health care professional since no one can change their gender. They can only offer cosmetic surgery and hormones which can cause severe side effects and be damaging to sexual health. I worry that many of these kids will end up changing their minds and have permanent unwanted changes to their bodies. I think a better option would be to assist these people to be happy with the body they have and allow self expression within reason (we cannot have people going around naked for example). This is not the same as praying away the gay but is being realistic that we cannot change our sex and trying to do no harm which I think transgender medicine does.

In the 1980's we had Prince who expressed his feminine side and masculine side very well and we loved it. Men and women should be able to butch or feminine or both.

I am a moderate liberal Democrat and I believe most Democrats fall into my camp. It is not helpful to call liberals sick when I think it is only a small percentage on folks on the left who agree with teaching kids this. I do not agree it is a good idea. Instead I believe in teaching kindness and respect and no bullying. I think some folks are thinking trans is in the same category as gay and do not want to be prejudiced when trans is not the same. I think transgender medicine is misguided and is harming people. I believe instead in allowing men to express their feminine side or women to express their butch side as we did with no problem in 1980s.

Yes! I’m the PP whose child was read the above book and I agree with everything you said. But the problem is…at least at our school/district, speaking out at all is shot down with calling people bigots, racists, and are silenced. A parent that spoke out about this book, when later applied to join the school board, was denied because of “different values”

Not the school’s role.

What are you so frightened of?

If your kid is gay, transgender, reading or not reading a book is not going to change anything about his or her sexual preferences.

OTOH. That book and a sense of acceptance might save him or her from suicide.

Your latter claim is exactly how families of children with gender identity disorders felt pressured into hormones and surgery and has been disputed by the facts.
It's emotional blackmail. "Give me what I want or I'll kill myself."

Agree. I’m atheist so it isn’t even about religion. But our school had a book read in kindergarten by teacher about gender identify: basically saying you can pick your gender, or we both, or be neither, or change whenever. Sorry, but stick to math and science please. There is a time and place for these discussions and I think that should be left up to parents when that is and how it is presented. Switching genders isn’t something flippant
I'm also an atheist and a Democrat. But the trans stuff has gotten insane. Our school district treats trans kids exactly like the gender they say they are, even allowing boys to play girls sports at the high school level. That's crazy.

If it’s just a small percentage of liberals, many seem to be infiltrating school boards in order to change the curriculum in order to push their ideology on young children. They refuse to allow dissent, and label any parent who objects to this sort of curriculum all sorts of names. I honestly believe this DEI and transgender ideology is like a religion to many liberals, many of whom are atheists. They act as if this sort of teaching is sacred and castigate anyone who disagrees.

Yes, it's very difficult to speak up against progressive priorities like trans indoctrication in elementary school. It's a quick way to be ostracized in more liberal communities. I think it's a big reason why more and more liberal parents are quietly voting for Republicans. There's no room for dissent or conversation in progressive school districts.
