Lots of good suggestions here, but I’m putting in a plug for Philly! It’s one of my favorite cities and so accessible from DC. Round-trip Acela tickets should be about $400 for both if you book now (worth springing for them over the NE Regional since it’s a special trip) and hotels are pretty reasonable. There’s lots to do in Old City, plus the Franklin Museum and the Mutter Museum. And Reading Terminal Market is really fun for lunch. Plus they can do some cheesesteak and pretzel sampling. And it’s very walkable!
You could probably do it really nicely for $1.2k or even a bit less. |
