This thread contains so many of the awful things in our current society.
People using social-media-friendly and utterly vapid and annoying tags like "boy mom". Ugh. People going on at length about how our society is against boys. Wut??????? Human society has valued boys more than girls and allowed men to use and abuse women for centuries and when we finally call them on it and say enough (!!!) now we are anti-boy. Nope. Boys need to be raised to see girls as equals, to understand consent etc. That is not anti-boy. FFS. And then all the generalizations about boy behavior (gross) and girl behavior (mean). Honestly all of you shut up and grow up. |
|
This thread is not about boys vs girls, parenting styles, or anything else.
It is just to point out that calling yourself a “boy mom” is smug, obnoxious and irritating, and that you should therefore stop doing it. |
You should ask yourself why it bothers you so much. It’s a YP. |
| A lot of dads use girl dad. Why is this ok then if boy mom is not? |
Probably because she’s controlling and can’t control it. |
No, they don’t. I have never once heard a dad call himself this in real life or online. |
I don’t hear dads really using it. I do hear dads using words like Daddy’s Princess. I also hear girl mom. Somewhere in this world are tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of boy moms. Some are smug and obnoxious. Some are not. OP won’t be able to tell. She’ll paint them all with one brush. Whatever she thinks, they’ll continue their lives, unaware of her existence. She probably does have different categories for boys too. Boys of moms who have boys vs boys of boy moms, which is a shame, because she’s stereotyping kids. Luckily they really don’t know or care about what she thinks. |
This. It’s the fact that these “boy moms” can’t just say to others that they have two boys or sons, but that it has to be a thing to make them feel special and unique, particularly on social media. I cringe every time I see that hashtag. The mother is usually the same as well. Suburban, screaming at the officials at the travel soccer tournament, ideally with one or more “Live laugh love” decorations in her house. |
And teenage girls are mean. |
Lol your last sentence. Are you new to the internet? |
It was all over the internet when Kobie Bryant died being a #girldad. If you watch any women's sports you will see #girldad all over the internet. Follow gist. |
The insufferable city person has entered the picture. OMG! I spend $300 at Ulta today, you know what I mean ... not me thank god #boymom |
You, not your husband, is on the internet defending this gross behavior. And when you are called on it, you cry misogyny? Let’s just say I am not surprised you are raising your boys not take responsibility- you are apparently modeling it for them. |
You’re right. 5-year-old pee splatter equals future rapist. And the world is pro-men and boys, because we allow it. |
Kobe (not “Kobie,” and no, that wasn’t a typo) was a great dad who loved his children, who happened to be daughters. |
