“Boy mom”

It’s not enough to be a mom and to say “I have two boys.” Everything had to be a hashtagable phrase that can be printed on moms beach trucker hat or her wine-o-clock glasses.

I guess I don’t understand how being a boy mom is different from being a mom????

For me, being a boy mom means embracing everything that goes along with raising only boys. Through watching them grow up, I've gained an appreciation for men and how they operate. Men and women are different. Raising boys vs raising girls is different.

I worked with a woman who had “boy mom” on a necklace. I cringed every time I saw it.

Why? What a bizarre reaction. Why are you so emotionally invested in someone else’s jewelry.

Abnormal. Weird.

"Boy mom" implies "Don't expect much from us because BOYS am I right?" Ugh.

There IS backlash against boys because some of their parents don't seem to think boys can act like human beings.

Love my boys. I’m their mom! Don’t like the term boy mom either. Don’t like a lot of overused term. But on the flipside, I don’t give much of a crap if anybody uses it. If there’s anything in the cultural zeitgeist right now that triggers you this much, probably best to avoid it. Maybe also do a little inner work about what is causing your flip out.
I also agree with the previous post that there was a pretty anti-boy vibe in the world right now, and my job is to protect my healthy, amazing energetic boys during their upbringing and raise them to be emotionally, healthy men who thrive in challenging times.

I personally don’t use the phrase. But having all boys is a very specific experience. If you know, you know. A few posters here don’t get it because they aren’t living that experience. Get over yourself and do a little reflecting on why this phrase bothers you so much.

The boy moms are very sensitive about how special and interesting they are, so they're upset, but you're right.

Pp here who thinks the poster threatening violence is psychotic.

I raised two girls.

You aren’t very bright, are you?

“BOY MOM,” you are annoying and think your son does literally no wrong.

“He’s all boy,” I will punch you in the tit.

What is wrong with you?

No, seriously. What is your diagnosis?

Because this sort of anger and hostility is abnormal. Threatening physical violence over use of a phrase? That’s psychotic.

Lighten up Francis. It was clearly a joke.

I understand the difference between a threat and joking hyperbole, so I'm clearly brighter than you.

That isn’t a joke. A joke involves a priest, a rabbi and a hooker entering a bar.

I have 3 boys but don’t use this term. I think it is used by moms who are very upset they don’t have a girl, so are looking for some way to feel special being a mom of only boys.
