Sure

...Sure? Who are you and why would you waste people's time with a comment like this. I am really disappointed that people here keep trying to push their agendas about everything on others. Me and DH met at UVA and our son desperately wanted to carry that on. It is unfair to treat that pain with scorn, because you have some skepticism for whatever reasons. This place is becoming rancid.

The PP said "sure" because she didn't believe it, and I don't either.

On the bright side, your DS is quite likely to find a satisfactory spouse at some other school.

You are disgusting. I really hate when people like you talk from your high chambers about who is and is not allowed to speak. UVA rejected multiple people at DC's school, he just had the highest stats, but now we are trying for the ivies and other top schools.

If Harvard is 1370 UVA could be literally 1100 or something. There's a rule in the Ivy athletic conference that requires athletes admitted to any Ivy to have "commensurate" academic chops and I know of no such rule in any other athletic conference.

For UVA there are at least 2 in the 1160/3.9W range that are showing as admitted in EA on Scoir for my daughter’s Catholic high in the last 3 years.

DS just got her acceptance!! Unweighted GPA 3.64. Weighted GPA 4.15. SAT 1280 (only took once, submitted scores). Never had any doubts.

Yesterday this board had me convinced that my high stats NMSF kid had virtually zero chance of getting into UVA and now this? No wonder applying to college is so stressful. Nobody knows anything!!!

It’s not about the scores anymore. Schools are wise to the BS tricks that most parents pull. DS knew her SAT was low, but she also only took it once, no coaching, no repeat retakes to game the system like most losers in NOVA. She also didn’t take cupcake classes and capitalize on grade inflation. Coursework was super rigorous in math and science. Had a high school internship with Amazon (Project Kuiper – communications satellite mission operations software). AI/ML SW development for mission operations autonomy. Letter of recommendation from Rajeev Badyal.

Omg. Not to take away from your kid’s (DS/her?) accomplishments— s/hesounds very talented and smart. But why generalize about most nova kids?

Questionable is one way to put it. No way in the WORLD any sane person would expect anyone to believe that worthless made up blather. Did your son communicate his desire to commit arson in his personal statement? If not, I am not even considering the possibility this made up piece of garbage is real.

Why do you keep referring to your DS as "she" and "her"? Trans?

That aside, getting high-end internships with letters of recommendation is another "BS trick that parents pull" - a clear signal of unearned privilege.

UVA is an elite school, up there with Harvard. Why are you surprised it is competitive?

UVa doesn't hold a lump of coal to Harvard in any regard. Keep your wild ideations to yourself.

It is one of the most prestigious universities in the world. That is objective fact.
