The only “achievement” you mentioned is wealth. |
| I’m in the middle of that group and completely agree OP. I’m surrounded by insane parents. |
There is a lot of middle ground, yes, but people there are not pursuing their passions, as you recommended. They might like their job on occasion but very few would do it if they weren't paid for it (ie. if it was their passion). Also, very few people are in management consulting long-term. |
Yes, they’ve lost their way. When wealth is viewed as the only achievement; it’s gross. And the PP is unimpressive with her post. It nauseating to read. |
DP. But what did you achieve? Do share! |
Personally I think it’s more douche-nerd than nerds of old. |
Are you asking me or the person bragging about her achievement of being in the top 1% of income? |
Whoever is accusing her only achievement being wealth. |
DP but there are a lot of solidly middle class careers that can (and do) easily line up with someone’s passion. You’re very binary in your thinking: one is either gunning to be CEO or is doomed to be a dumpster diving starving artist, right? |
No one “accused” her of anything. It was simply observed that the only achievement she chose to list was wealth. |
please name those careers and explain how they are totally unrelated to the level of academic success that is needed to be competitive for top colleges. |
So what's your achievement other than running your mouth on this forum? |
| Totally agree with OP |
Agreed. - Signed, another poor immigrant kid who is now a supposed 1%er and who is proud of her kids achievements. By the way, my kids are not even applying to any Ivy's/T10s because they don't have the programs that they are interested in. |
NP. And I find it obtuse and simplistic. That PP thinks landing in the 1% is some indication that her kid us somehow imbued with that "extra" factor is ludicrous! |
