He lasted about a half Scaramucci. Maybe a new unit of time measurememt will be named after him.

He already declined.

I wonder how KM will look when it's announced that MG is the new Senator in FL ...

There will be over 50 senators who will object to his being seated
Desantis is likely to appoint himself as he can't run for governor again. To keep himself relevant for 2028, the Senate is perfect. Further, it is a good way to stick it to trump.

"Because Gaetz resigned from Congress, his seat must be filled through a special election in Florida, per the Constitution, meaning he cannot just retake his place in the House or be appointed into the seat.

"Could Matt Gaetz Run For His Own House Seat?
Gaetz—who won reelection in his Florida congressional district with 66.3% of the vote—could likely run for his own seat again in a special election. Jonathan Hanson, a professor at the University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy, told Forbes he believes Gaetz would not have a problem running again as there is nothing in Florida law that would prohibit the person who vacated the seat from becoming a party’s nominee in a special election."

The House can refuse to seat him and would.

Finally.

Did he really want to be a Congress person and an AG?

THIS! Whoever he chooses will be equally or more dangerous since they will have to agree 100% to whatever Trump wants.

Off topic's topic - but Lenny Briscoe lived in Scranton, PA for a spell. I believe at the same time as Joe Biden.

Breaking news: Attorney General nomination is now old enough that Gaetz no longer has interest in it.

He still won. He resigned this term. He'll be sworn in again in January

This. He’ was re-elected so he’ll have his job back.

His own resignation letter said he wouldn’t do this.

My guess is that there's something really bad in the ethics report. The AG nomination was a Hail-Mary shot to get him out from under that investigation, which is why he resigned his seat right away. When it became clear that at least some of the House ethics findings would come to light in the Senate confirmation hearings, he dropped out of that process too. He's doing everything he can to keep that report hidden.

Thanks for this update, PP. It's good to know there are a few decent GOP senators for whom Gaetz was a bridge too far.
