No, you clearly don't. If you think for a minute they are doing this with the long-term interest of the kids/soccer versus the money, you really don't understand the landscape here. And if you think that the two-year horizon is long-term, then I have a bridge to sell you. |
If NVA moves to MLSNext and GA, it’ll benefit Union, VDA, and Arlington. You’ll see an exodus of girls from NVA and the top ones will displace second string girls on the other NoVa girls ECNL teams. |
this is absolutely the way. Heck. My kid will be gunning for a starter spot. All because some men who lack vision, patience and resources made a panic decision. Losing season top to bottom on the girls side plus exodus of boys to mls next teams causes this? Says to the existing Girls they lack the knowledge and energy to build the girls side up. I sense a disturbance in force yes….. |
this is the truth. $top the bleeding of $$ by dangling a new carrot for the boys. Girls and attached families will suck it up and stay ad the other ecnl clubs are packed w starters. |
But it's not a new carrot MLS Next has stated that they intend to expand by a lot. This is an opportunity for clubs to get involved with a league that will guarantee then several levels of boys teams which translates to $$$. |
Again…NVA is playing the long game. If they think MLSN + GA will be the bigger deal than ECNL + ECNL, they'll make the switch. They have enough connections to know where they will be benefit more down the road. They are not thinking about what's best right now or upsetting a few ECNL Girl parents, they're thinking about what's going to be the winning move in the future.

No. MLSNext is not expanding by a lot. They are creating what is essentially ECNL RL. Which, frankly, will be better than ECNL National. |
Isn’t NVA the largest club in NVA? Why is the boys-side so bad? |
They are adding the EA/NAL clubs and then probably adding some ECNL too |
Interesting…
The MLS application lets you apply for MLS Tier I MLS Tier II MLS Tier I and II |
Tier 1 and 2 is for ECNL clubs with ECRL teams. You can see who MLS is targeting. |
Great point. MLS next is coming |
Terrible (and overpaid) leadership. |
