What is UP? Penn State is PSU in Happy Valley. UP is University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy in West Philadelphia.

University Park. That’s the location on the common app, not Happy Valley.

My kid got an email at 12:06am this morning and logged in around 5am? Letter was in his portal dated 11/26.

It is very confusing as University Park is typically UMD(if you are from the DMV area)

At this point if we haven’t heard anything yet should we assume either a 2 + 2 acceptance or a rejection from UP? My son applied for engineering. He’s out of state, has a 3.95 unweighted gpa and a 33 on the ACT. We thought it would be an easy acceptance on their part given his grades and rigor of classes, but obviously we were wrong since it seems the engineering school notified other EA applicants weeks ago.

No, it takes time. Does he want to go there?

I have been wondering the same for my son who applied for engineering - exacerbated by the fact that another student from his school already got a PSU acceptance (though didn't apply to engineering). They could also be deferred to RD, I think.

Yes. It’s his top choice

Is the application complete?
It sounds like it might be missing something

Nope. It's been "complete" since late September.

I don't know their system; but they do get tens of thousands of applications. It probably takes a while to get through them.
