I mean he tried this last time he was president:

https://www.cbpp.org/research/social-security/trump-house-republican-cuts-to-ssi-would-harm-children-with-disabilities

https://www.cbpp.org/blog/presidents-budget-would-hurt-people-with-disabilities-1

Echoing a plan from House Republicans, the budget would cut $8 billion from SSI over ten years by reducing benefits for families in which more than one member qualifies for SSI — hurting some of the most vulnerable families, for example when children share a genetic disorder. Some 70 percent of poor families caring for more than one child with disabilities already struggle to meet basic needs, and these cuts would make their lives even harder.

Two-thirds of its nearly $50 billion in disability program savings comes from a vague proposal to “test new approaches to increase labor force participation.” The proposal assumes that after five years of experimenting, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will find large savings. SSA, however, has launched many demonstration projects over the years to test new ways to encourage beneficiaries to return to work, and they have consistently shown limited results or proved not cost-effective. Given disability beneficiaries’ severe impairments and high death rates, this proposal is very unlikely to fuel dramatic increases in work and, in turn, large savings for Social Security.

Enabling people with disabilities to work to their full potential would likely cost, not save, money. For example, it would mean more — not dramatically less — Medicaid spending for things like the long-term services and supports that many people with disabilities need to work. Slashing vital supports makes it harder for people with severe illnesses and injuries to get back on their feet.

That is completely irresponsible and selfish for someone to keep on having kids when they know their offspring are at risk for a serious (hereditary) genetic disorder. I did preimplantation genetic screening to prevent my children from getting a serious genetic disease that runs in the family. The government should pay for IVF and genetic screening when people couples are in this situation. However, we should not be subsidizing irresponsible decisions for people that have second or third children with a genetic disorder because they are not willing to use birth control.

There is a lady arguing in front of a school board rn that her HS aged kid should be able to say the word "ret.ed"

They are emboldened, and it will get worse, even in your community.

+1 this is exactly what I got from this election. I don’t care about other people anymore. They should live with the consequences of their choices. I have worked hard for what I have, let them do the same.

So you will be happy with them all begging on the streets? People with autism, people with IQs in the 50s, people with Cornelia de Lange syndrome?

DP. Don't know if you've been out recently, but there are people begging on every street, all over the place. Do you just selectively ignore it when it happens under an administration you approve of?

NP. It's probably why people like you and me do not give them money. Why, because we know that they are being protected with SSDI.

My neighbor is on disability SSI because of anxiety and diabetes. GTFO.

I have anxiety and I still work. I have diabetes and I still work. Fking lazy people.

Interesting! Your neighbors share this kind of personal info with you? This info would be none of my neighbors fking business. Btw, before you think otherwise, I've been fully employed and well compensated for over thirty-years. I just find it strange that a neighbor would have this kind of information.

Well for the disability I have (that is congenital) the new trend is for the parent to become a Tik Tok influencer (all with Tik Tok shop) making videos of your sick baby in the NICU or when (or if) they come home showing all about their disabled baby’s life. Some have millions of followers. Showing off their disability babies for clicks, likes, and money. To someone with the same disability, it is very disturbing.

But hey, this is America….
Yuck

I live in the Midwest in a pretty blue state. Little begging on the street here. Lots more support here for the disabled than in a red state.

I have friends who had triplets, all disabled. What's the "fix" for that?

I also have friends whose first child wasn't diagnosed until they were already pregnant with the second. What's the "fix" for that?

He can't just waive a magic wand and take away everything. I don't recall him mentioning that the second he takes office he's coming after the disabled. Lets see what get proposed and then we can advocate and try to stop it.

OP here.

He is proving he CAN wave a magic wand and hurt our disabled family members.

DEI was NEVER about the disabled and you know it. It was about skin color, that's it.

Most immediately Trump will probably EO away the ADA as unnecessary regulation and bureaucratic overreach.

And MAGA will cheer, never dreaming what’s it’s like to not be able to use public transportation or be stuck outside a door you can’t open in inclement weather or a million other things.

Unclear what the HHS interference will result in but it’s unlikely to be good. He’s got eugenicists on his team so difficult to imagine how despicable it will get.

LIAR.

That I is for inclusion.

Trump just put a target on my kid's back.

Given that Trump suggested disabled people should just die in reference to his disabled nephew, I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the possibility that the disabled will be negatively affected under his rule.

The EO didn’t say DEI. It said DEIA. The A is for accessibility. He literally directly targeted a accessibility programs and put those who work in those departments on leave as of 5pm yesterday.
